He Left Everything Behind to Live in a Tent. It Seems Crazy, Until You See the Inside (Video)

(N.Morgan)  Escaping the hustle and bustle of civilization to live in a tent may sound crazy, but for Bryce Langston, it’s only temporary location.

At least the tent part is only temporary. Bryce is the host of the YouTube channel, Living Big in a Tiny House.

Along with being in the middle of constructing his own tiny house, Bryce travels near and far to visit other people who have jumped headlong into the tiny home building movement.

He seeks out stellar or unusual examples of the trend and interviews the homeowners while touring the homes.

Bryce’s childhood was spent in a pretty comfortable “McMansion” in a fairly upper class, coastal suburb of Auckland, New Zealand.

He doesn’t knock his childhood home, though.

He thinks it was a perfect way to grow up, just that it’s not sustainable or sensible for everyone in the world to live in such grandeur.

Instead he’s trying to blaze a trail in novel ways of living smaller, to make room for the rest of us.

So how did he end up staying in a tent?

Bryce’s own tiny house is still under construction.

It’s a long-term project with a lot of attention to sustainability and permaculture on the property.

In the meantime, the charismatic Kiwi built a snazzy deck, an even snazzier bathroom, and set up one of the coolest tents we’ve ever seen.

The Lotus Belle tent was designed by two women who wanted to build a tent you wouldn’t mind spending a lot of time in.

Bryce put his own touch on their concept and took it to another level.

He’s moved right into his tent full-time until his house is completed.

From the sink to the stove, it’s got some pretty amazing creature comforts hiding inside.

Bryce is leading the way for people who want to live a more simple and natural life.

Who no longer want to be a rent or mortgage debt slave.

This way of life style offers freedom and independence to enjoy life in the most basic ways possible.

In the video below, Bryce gives us the grand tour of this amazing tent and shows us all of the amenities this tent boasts, including a tree house style bathroom with an adjoining bridge.

So, what’s gonna happen in BIN when everyone has Ad Block Plus and no one ever sees an effing ad among the millions of ads hassling everyone on BIN? I haven’t seen an ad in over a month now of any kind, not one. LOL, BIN will get a million clicks but no one will ever see an ad here, eventually.

I think BIN may have been better off in the long run if they hadn’t of tried to bury everyone in ads that no one wanted to see.

I honestly thought it was a virus, ABP does away with the garbage.

Actually not hard to set up real toilet in outhouse, just need water and put in a septic style tank and drain field. Water does not need a direct hookup, just a bucket of water does the trick. Oh that septic, could be as small as a 55 gallon steel or plastic barrel.

    • LIttle Bright Feather

I like the news but I hate this web page – everything you want to see disappears before you an get to them and ads appear in their place ! The entire page is just ads on top of ads !

    • Busta Myth

Those Lotus Bell tents are nice and don’t cost that much to buy, I’v been thinking of buying one for a while now

The tricky part is finding some land that you can put it on and live in it full time, usually you are not allowed to do that unless you bought the land and are in the process of building a House with planning permission

    • tonyw

for most..still got to borrow money for the land..still got to borrow the money for the materials, pay rates, pay for septics (if you are allowed to use them) and many other things as well. Usually means you want space so you have to live out of town..means travelling to work somewhere further than normal… cannot see any benefit

Not very secure Around here they would cut it open and take your stuff.

    • Redlist Renegade

So essentially it’s a thin walled Yurt . Not a bad idea as long as you could wrap it with a thick outer wall blanket of insulation when it gets cold but unless you live in a pretty well permanent warm climate already why not just buy a yurt to live in ? Not only are they pretty well insulated but they are more secure as well and they aren’t really that expensive to buy .

      • Daniel Jackson

I was looking at a means to insulate tents with R 8 to R 16 and realized a easy way to do so after I thought about it. It requires designing the tent from scratch so that the materials will hold the insulation.

        • BEEF SUPREME

Seams should be designed to receive wooden or metal 2 x 4s for support. Then you can insulate and fasten sheet rock to the inside of the tent walls. After which, you may then install siding material on the outside. And don’t forget rough openings for Anderson Windows. Add roofing shingles, gutters and downspouts, and you’ll be good to go.

I use SeaMonkey allot with Adblock Plus I did not realize the pop up problem you all mentioned, I suppose because I always run the blocker.

    • ehecatl

      fkn BIN!!!
Wasted several valuable dollars at the mexican internet today with Bin all locked down with ads. Looked like there might have been a few interesting threads but it was all hours wasted,
I am such a dumb ass.

Used to be that Tor would bypass all the cr@p, but it is all pretty useless now.

Time to leave BIN in the trashcan unless they change their ways.

Is it me or is that thing like a foot out of level?

    • Pumpkin

Is it just me or is that thing about a foot out of level?

    • elina

Did he really leave everything behind to live in a tent? More like he brought everything with him!

    • Peter Jennings

Expect more and more ‘cool’ programmes about living in tiny houses as agenda 21 kicks in and the UN spins its human captivity in packed city ghetto’s as ‘cool’ and ‘environmentally friendly’.
As the guy says, these houses are not for everyone. Just the gullible, the romantic, the ignorant and those who don’t have many hobbies. Still, he’s got the rest of the land to build on if going tiny doesn’t work out, right?

Meanwhile back in agenda 21land, they’ll be plenty of McMansions for others to live in and they’ll have a lot more space after the low cost housing estates are cleared and most of the uninformed plebs brainwashed into accepting that living on top of each other in a crowded, noisy, never sleep city is cool and required of them in order to save the planet.

    • zero

It’s like a yurt, only not as good.
