Crick Crack Club Wild Costume Competition

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

A UK storytelling promoter has launched a costume challenge for feral artists, creative families, men with sewing kits, women in fur, folklore lovers… in fact, anyone with a wild side!

Wild beings are always popping up in fairytales, folk tales, myths, and epic stories – as well as making regular appearances on blockbuster TV series. Tarzan, Yetis, Wildlings, and Fauns – we love them all, and storytellers delight in describing them to rapt audiences everywhere. This summer, to celebrate the wild beings of British Folklore and beyond, the Crick Crack Club has launched a costume competition for those seeking something a bit different – a chance to reconnect with their inner Wild!

On Sunday 2nd August 2015 at 5pm, in an as yet undivulged location on London’s South Bank, The Crick Crack Club’s Wild Man – Wild Woman – Wild Child competition will welcome its entrants to strut their stuff in a silent ‘Wild Thing’ disco. The Wildest Man, Woman and Child will win the admiration of a panel of wild judges, including Charles Freger, the  artist behind the book Wilder Mann: The Image Of The Savageand the wild inspiration for the contest.

Whether the Green Man, Grendel’s mum, the Muppet’s Animal, or the Gorgon – Crick Crack Club’s Wild Competition is an invitation to get dressed up, create something untameable (if not strictly beautiful), and show it off to the world.

Here are the details:

The contest is part of the Fabularium Fairytale Festival run by the Crick Crack Club. This runs from Friday, 24 July 2015 at 6.30pm – Sunday, 2 August 2015 at 9.30pm in London.

The Crick Crack Club is one of England’s premier promoters and programmer of performance storytelling. It has been a leader in the revival of performance storytelling in the UK since 1987 – focusing on the contemporary performance of international folktale, fairytales, myth and epic for predominantly adult audiences.
