Remember Lot’s Wife

Throughout the gospels the Lord Jesus Christ prophesied about His Second Coming several times and He said that those days would be like it was in the days of Noah and also as it was in the days of Lot.
In Luke chapter 17 it is recorded that the Pharisees had asked Him when the kingdom of God would come and He told them that the kingdom of God does not come with observation but that the kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:20-21).
But then He turned to His disciples and gave them a much more extended description about what to look for when He is about to return. Picking up in verse 28, He said:
Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot, they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it” (Luke 17:28-33).
Many have mistakenly taken this passage to assume that the Lord was using this comparison as a description of the Rapture based on the next few verses, which say:
“I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left” (Luke 17:34-36).
While those verses sound very much like a description of the results of the Rapture, the next verse describes where those people went that were “taken” proving that this isn’t talking about the Rapture. The disciples ask Him, ‘Where Lord?’ And He answered: ‘Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together’” (Luke 17:37).
It is obvious that those that were “taken” were taken to be slaughtered when the Antichrist comes into the Holy Land after the mid-point of Daniel’s 70th Week (Matthew 24:15-20; Zechariah 14:2; Daniel 7:21; 11:41). This is a description of an arrest, not a Rapture.
Even though the context of this passage is not describing the Rapture of the Church, there is still a warning that Jesus proclaimed that can be applied to the Church today, and that is when He said, “Remember Lot’s wife” in verse 32. In fact, a single verse is assigned to just that warning!
In the context of that statement, Jesus was warning the Jews not to turn back for anything in their homes when the Antichrist forces invade Jerusalem as Lot’s wife had stopped to look back at her hometown that the Lord was about to destroy with fire and brimstone causing her to turn to a pillar of salt due to her disobedience.
Since Lot had obeyed the angel’s orders to not look back, it is quite likely that Lot’s wife was lagging far behind Lot without him knowing it due to her reluctance to leave her hometown. She may have even considered turning and going back at the moment that she was turned to salt.
The Hebrew word used in Genesis 19:26 for “look” is “nabat” (Strong’s # H5027) and can have an alternate meaning of “to show regard”. This may very well reveal Lot’s wife’s true mindset of her desire to “look” back. She had regarded her old life more than the next life that the Lord was leading them to.
For the Christians living in the current Church Age, this same warning can be heeded as to not be so attached to this world that we are not looking for the Blessed Hope of His soon appearing for His bride (Titus 2:12-13).
This especially applies to the Church since the New Testament tells us that this world is not our home (Hebrews 13:14), and that we are only sojourners passing through this world (1 Peter 2:11), and that our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20).
Part of becoming a born-again Christian is realizing that we are not of this world and that our lives are a temporary assignment mission as ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). The first epistle of John warns us that this world is passing away, but he who does the will of God abides forever (1 John 2:17). In the same passage we are warned not to love the world:
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:15-16).
It could very well be that Lot’s wife had loved her hometown of Sodom so much that she could not let it go and disregarded the angel’s warning to not look back (Genesis 19:17). The real sad part is that her hometown of Sodom was about the most evil territory on the planet at that time.
One would have to wonder what was so intriguing that she would want to stay or go back? It could have been that their sons-in-law had ignored the warning to leave and decided to stay (Genesis 19:14).
This in itself is an example of the family division that can commonly occur when the Word of God is not taken seriously among family members and also demonstrates how important it is that we witness to our loved ones about the saving grace of the gospel of Christ while there is still time.
“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14).
Many of us have taken the steps to witness to our loved ones but they still do not want to listen or believe and sometimes we are even mocked by our own family members. It is interesting to note that the angels took Lot and his family “by their hands” to escort them out of the city, except for their sons-in-law.
This is because they had mocked the warning that the angels had given, so the angels gave them what they wanted, and that was to stay!
In Luke 17:28-30, Jesus said that it will be like the days of Lot when the Son of Man is revealed. He is speaking about the conditions of the world. The city of Sodom was plagued with sodomy, hence where the word gets its name.
Homosexuality is running like wildfire throughout our present world today and has even been used to redefine marriage right here in our own country. I don’t think our world could be anymore as it was in the day of Lot than it is right now!
When Lot’s wife looked back unto Sodom her heart was still attached to the people and things that remained there, even though she had physically left the city and was on her way to safety and refuge from the coming wrath.
How many Christians today have this same heart problem? They have their ticket to heaven by trusting in Christ but yet they still cling to the many things of this world that are not of God, or they are complacent with the things that God opposes!
“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy with God” (James 4:4).
The wrath of God is approaching this world like a speeding freight train yet the majority of the world is so engaged in their lustful pleasures that not only do they not see it coming but they have no remorse in their sinful lifestyles whatsoever.
Homosexuality is being flaunted and celebrated on a global basis and sadly even many Christian organizations are in support of it. They are focused on their flesh and not their eternal souls. The Word of God admonishes us to walk in the Spirit to combat the lusts of the flesh:
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things you wish” (Galatians 5:16-17).
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts” (Romans 13:14).
Whether it be homosexuality or any form of fleshly lust, if we are truly following Christ we certainly are not going to condone any sin of the flesh, let alone gloat in it as so many people are now doing in LGBT community, hence the term “gay pride!”
We are all born with sinful desires of all sorts and they all need to be combated on a daily basis. That can only be done with prayer and obedience to the Word of God. To praise homosexuality the way that it is being praised is to be at enmity with God. God loves the sinner but hates the sin.
Sin is what separated humanity from God and Jesus Christ sacrificed His life on a Roman cross so that we could be reconciled back to God. When we profess to accept His payment for our sin, there is no room for compromise for any sin that may be in our lives and any sexual activity outside of a man and a woman in holy matrimony is sin. Period!
Our Lord’s warning in Luke 17:32 is an instruction for us to never look back or turn back from our profession of true faith that we have made and to follow Christ and abide by His truths and ordinances.
“No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62).
Lot’s wife may have also regretted having being made to leave her hometown. It has been surmised that Lot’s wife may have likely been a native of the city of Sodom since Lot did not have a wife when he left Abraham to go settle there (Genesis 13:8-12).
Her allegiance was to her hometown more than it was to the Lord or even her husband! This is also an example of the error and the cost of being unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Many have wondered why Lot’s wife was turned to salt. There are physical reasons as well as symbolic reasons and the Bible provides both. Lot’s wife was likely lagging so far behind Lot and their daughters that some of the effects of the city’s destruction may very well have affected her.
Deuteronomy 29:23 graphically describes brimstone and salt as being an after-effect upon the land of Sodom and Gomorrah after He inflicted His wrath upon it. So it doesn’t seem as though Lot’s wife traveled very far after leaving the gates of the city.
As for the symbolic aspect of her turning to salt, Lot’s wife was left behindafter Lot had made it to the city of Zoar where the angels told them to go for safety. The angels also clarified that they could not do anything until they got there (Genesis 19:22). In the New Testament Jesus declared that the church is the salt of the earth.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men” (Matthew 5:13).
Salt is a flavor enhancer and a preservative. The Church’s role in this dispensation is to enhance the world around us with the Good News of Jesus Christ and help to get new believers preserved for that Day of redemption.
When this current Age of Grace ends there will be many people left behind that were “lukewarm” in their acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Savior that will finally realize that He is who He says He is and that the Bible is all truth. Some will perish while some will immediately convert and become believers.
Those Tribulation saints will then have to be the salt of the earth after the Church has reached its destination of safety via the Rapture! In that context, Lot’s wife may be representative of people that profess to be Christians but their hearts are still tethered to this world and they have not truly surrendered themselves to Christ.
The Lord was merciful to Lot’s family and Lot’s wife had rejected that grace when she regarded her hometown of Sodom above the Lord’s mercy and grace.
I’d like to point out that just after Jesus said to remember Lot’s wife in Luke 17:32, He then said, “Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it” (Luke 17:33). This is the same statement He used when He declared that a man has no profit if he was to even gain the whole world:
“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:25-26)
This same exact admonishment is given in three out of the four gospels! The other two are found in Luke 9:24-25 and in Mark 8:35-37. It certainly seems as though the Lord wanted this warning to be emphasized for it to be repeated so many times.
There is one last thing I’d like to point out about Lot’s wife that is not only relative to the Church but also to the Pre-Tribulation Rapture. Many people that hold to a Mid or Post-Tribulation view, declare that the Lord will protect and preserve the Church through the Tribulation period leaving them unharmed from His wrath.
However, Lot’s wife was not even allowed to “look” at it let alone be preserved through it, so why would the Church, who have been made righteous through Christ, be allowed to even see it?
The worldwide cataclysmic events that are going to take place during the Tribulation period are going to be impossible to not see as Christians are scattered all over the world.
Not only that, but how many Christians would be tempted to revel and cheer at the destruction of the many ungodly organizations and enemies of Christ? But the Lord told us not to revel at our enemies demise (Proverbs 24:17 and that we are to pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44).
If you are a Christian reading this and you think that the Church is going to have to endure the inescapable horrors of the Tribulation period, I’d like to remind you to remember Lot’s wife.
The overall message here for Christians today is that we should never place anything above the Lord and the grace and mercy that He has given us through His Son Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this world worth looking back at when He has given us so much to look forward to and our faith in that should be our driving force to abstain from all worldly lusts.
“Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul” (Hebrews 10:38-39).

Though Satan did get what he wanted, which is worship from earthly people, he didn’t achieve much else other than the CHAOS, MURDER and MISERY of all sorts that we see in the world right now and in the past. GOOD GOIN to those who don’t obey Christ.
He, Satan, is the example to follow if you want and like what’s in this world.

When a person professing to be of Christ does the very thing (s) that Christ Commanded NOT TO DO, Christ Will Send delusions to the “teachers” and to those who go to them and prefer them to Christ and Christ’s Ways.

To rapture ready: What was your point in posting the article that Palestinians are a threat to Israel’s existence? Do you believe they are or are not a threat? You certainly did not attempt to defend the average Palestinian person which is a completely different matter from the Palestinian government. Just as the every day Israeli is an entirely different matter than that of the Israeli government. The name of the site, (in part,) tells it all; rebel.

Many want to incite disastrously negative and possibly violently destructive behavior from and through you. They desire to get you so rip-roaring angry that you just might do something that you normally wouldn’t do. But you’ll be the one that will have to pay; NOT THEM!!! Don’t let that happen!
This is all part of Satan’s temporary but savage and murderous reign. He, Satan, and many of his servants, will come disguised “angels of light”; including the counterfeit “followers” of Christ and especially those who like to control others in Christ’s Body. But as God Warned all of us IF we’ll listen: Satan was a murderer and a liar from the beginning.

Remember, God allowed Satan to “rule” this world; all of us are being tested, trained and tried. Do we go to Christ=GOD ALMIGHTY 24/07 for His Tutoring and Holy Wisdom and Knowledge without and end or do we to to Satan and his heinous, perverse, brutal and rotten way of life which will have an end.
Every single thing on this earth will have an end; meaning for a certain time. The ONLY THING which will last on without and end, or without a certain time frame in GOD and His Holy Family which we do want to be a part of that. At least I do.

There is no rapture; EVERYTHING HAPPENS AT THE LAST TRUMPET. True, many who will undergo martyrdom may or may not be been luke-warms, but no one knows when we will go;(physically die) except God. He may allow very, very few to understand through a TRUE vision or dream from HIM and not from an overactive imagination.

Although there is certainly much truth in what you’ve presented, you appear to be seeking credibility by attempting to degrade what I offered in truth? That makes me question whether you actually believe in spirit and truth what you advocate. The truth inspires confidence, stand proud when speaking it! You don’t need to use my back as your pulpit for the inspired ear to hear your message. What I offered is the truth! Those choosing not to obey God after being resurrected to a restored physical body during the second resurrection will return to their previous state of death. Hence, the second death! At this point they will no longer have the hope of future resurrection or access to God. This is what is meant by eternal punishment. It lasts forever.
To say that “Punishment does not last forever but HS Mercy does.” is not quite accurate now is it? Sure, it’s true that God’s mercy is endless, but that does not in anyway render what I said invalid. I did not just invent the term eternal punishment. It is not my opinion you argue with, it’s God’s Word! Think long and hard about doing that. Those who may have benefited from my response could now be stumbled by your misguided challenge. Based on what you’ve written I don’t see that as being something you’re comfortable with.

Following is proof; from scripture that God IS Big enough and Loving enough to RECONCILE EVERYONE! And do not worry, if people do their own research, with CHRIST TEACHING AND LEADING THEM, THEY WILL NOT STUMBLE.
The second death is spiritual death; those who have not been authorized for the First Resurrection.
He who overcomes (with Christ’s 100% Input) will be authorized and be given a new body; a spiritual body and will SERVE with Christ in those 1,000 years. Those who die spiritually (without HIS SPIRIT Reigning in them) will have to do it over again; with Christ’s 100% input. Sooner or later, Christ Will Persuade those who didn’t make it into the First Resurrection.
THAT’S THE GOOD NEWS!

ROMANS 11:25-26-36 My brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be in the dark about this mystery-I am going to let you in on the plan so you will not think too highly of yourselves. A part of Israel has been hardened to the good news until the full number of those outside the Jewish family have entered in. This is the way that all of Israel will be saved.
As it was written, so it also stands: The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will drive away wickedness from Jacob. And this is My covenant promise to them, on the day when I take away their sins.
It way seem strange. When it comes to the work of the gospel, the fact that they oppose it is actually for your benefit. But when you factor in God’s election, they are truly loved because they descended from faithful fore-fathers. You see, when God gives a grace gift and issues a call to a people, He does not change His mind and take it back. There was a time your you outsiders were disobedient to God and at odds with His purpose, but now you have experienced mercy as a result of their disobedience. In the same way, their disobedience now will make a way for them to receive mercy as a result to the mercy shown to you.
For God has assigned all of us together-Jews and non-Jews, insiders and outsiders-to disobedience so He can show His mercy to all.
We cannot wrap our minds around God’s Wisdom and Knowledge!
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His Judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the Mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?” For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

Wise words, Sir, but also to remember, God loves the sinner, not the sin.
God can love the sinner, but love his standards more.
Just to be sure, anytime I go up onto my roof, I always take my bourbon, my best dog and my wife along with a generous assortment of sandwich making paraphernalia so I don’t need to come down for anything important.

God is all knowing, so since creation he already knew what he made and how he or she would sin. He made the rules on sin and does nothing to change it. He can abolish sin, remove satan or any other option available. He is the all mighty.
And the whole concept of free will is stupid since you still have to follow his rules to go to heaven. So it is an arbitrary thing that is already dicided and it’s only function is to create guilt.
A prime example: a rapist can be forgiven for his sins and go to heaven. But God first allows the rapist to rape and doesn’t stop him from sinning.
Free Will is a Gift to everyone born of man and woman, and comes with great responsibility. God has the utmost regard for man and did not create a robotic slave to worship Him. Love of God, a dying to oneself in obedience and honor, the surrendering of one’s own free will, has far greater merit when it is freely given rather than forced upon us.
To err is human, to forgive is DIVINE. Given similar circumstances and the misfortunes of life, we shouldn’t be as quick to condemn a rapist but be grateful we had not walked in his shoes. The victim is given a tremendous opportunity to forgive the assailant as God has always forgiven her sins. We must always forgive forgive forgive and love love love, especially the most unlovable people of all.
The rapist, after he has accepted the tremendous power of the True Holy Spirit is freed from the penalty of his sin when he repents. But, by this same spirit, his soul has been pierced and wounded forever from the knowledge and sorrow of his sin. This, he will carry to his grave as this enlightenment and understanding is of God. We are all walking through this valley of tears until we die and go to heave. It is rather presumptuous to expect heaven to be freely handed down to us while we indulge in our own guilt free, pleasure seeking life choices.

If I may lets clear up some of the confusion:
Satan invented sin, not God.
God set in place rules that produce happiness and prosperity.
Man was made from elements found in the ground as a temporary life form and was given the right to choose the way of Satan or the WAY of God. I do not like the term “free will”, we have the right to choose – only.
Man has always followed Satan thus God knows man will always choose the way of Satan given the choice. He does not know in advance your entire life, but He can look at how perverted your nature is and from that, which way you will chose to go.
God the Father sent Jesus Christ, THE WORD, to die for us to pay the penalty for our sins and then God the Father gives to that repentant person HE has CALLED, His Seed – His Spirit which begins the conversion of our carnal human nature over to HIS DIVINE Holy Righteous Perfect NATURE.
Our base nature must be changed.
Sin is living contrary to the perfect rules i.e. that perfect path which if we stay on will deliver all we truly want from life. And we can not do so until our natures are changed to Divine Nature.

I know you mean well but be careful about adding or taking away from God’s Word. What you said about Satan creating evil is not correct. God’s Word tells us that God created all things, both good and evil. Isaiah 45:6 “I am the Lord, and there is none else. 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil, I the Lord do all these things.” Remember God holds those who teach to a higher standard. If you want to influence other truth seekers you’ll want to be careful not to divert from what is written!

Roman and Greek bishops took control of the teaching in the communities of believers and censored their access to information. Constantine the Great Pagan Emperor was particularly successful at controlling the church. This idea, this desire, this aspiration to go to Heaven originated with Lucifer not with God. Ascending to Heaven whether during some rapture or even after death was never part of God’s plan for mankind. It is pure fabrication!

Jesus himself made it perfectly clear that nobody but him ascends to Heaven. John 3:12 “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”

There are many passages in scripture which support this position.One being Revelation 21:2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. Understanding the term “second death” helps with rejecting the false notion of your Heavenly presence. The scriptures tell us that when we die we are conscious of nothing, that from the grave we decompose and ultimately return to the ground from which man came.

The bible tells of there will be two resurrections, one when Jesus arrives which is the first harvest, the resurrected are the firstfruits, Like Jesus they are the first of the dead to be raised to immortal spirit. This 144,000 has been selected by God over the past six thousand years to help Christ run God’s Kingdom during his millennial rein.
Rev 14: “1 Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. Those raised in the first round are raised to immortal spirit. They following Christ are the first to enter God’s family, the Family of Elohim. They as immortal spirits are not subject to the second death. The reason why there is a second death is so embarrassingly simple. During the second resurrection, the resurrection that happens at the end of the millennial rein of Christ, man is not raised to spirit but rather to a restored physical body. God intends to provide a period of time for them to repent for their former sins and to accept God’s ways as demonstrated during the millennial rein. Those choosing not to obey God will return to their previous state of death. Hence, the second death! At this point they will no longer have the hope of future resurrection or access to God. This is what is meant by eternal punishment. It lasts forever.
In closing my very simple question is; if God’s Kingdom is coming to earth, exactly what is it that you rapture Heaven/hellfire believers seek in Heaven?

The truth is, the ones who will be changed into a spiritual body are the 144,000 God has selected over the past six thousand years to serve Christ as priests, teachers and kings during the millennial rein. They will help govern the great crowd that lives through the the tribulation and on into millennial period. Everyone else who has ever lived will be resurrected at the end of that one thousand year rein of Jesus as you mentioned.
Those resurrected after the millennial rein, unlike those resurrected first are not raised to spirit but instead to a restored physical body. This body will be given a short time to repent for their former sins and accept God’s ways as exampled during Christ’s rein. If that restored physical body rejects God they will return to their former state of death, to the grave, rotting away until they return to the dust from which man came. This is the second death. If they accept God when going before the great white throne they too will be turned to spirit. They will become members of the Elohim family, God will be their Father and they His sons.

In the book of Genesis many misinterpret what is being said. It is an easy and very common mistake. Gen 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

As we can see by reading the passage in Genesis that in the beginning God created the heavens and earth. That fact is universally accepted. He is of course the creator of all things. Your with me so far right?
Verse two says AND THE EARTH WAS WITHOUT FORM, AND VOID AND DARKNESS WAS UPON THE FACE OF THE DEEP. Did God create the earth in such imperfection? The answer is no! What is being said indicates that earth was already there. In order for God to travel over the waters there must have been waters there to travel over. What is being talked about there refers to the period after Satan and his demons destroyed the earth making it uninhabitable. God restored the earth making it hospitable to human existence in preparation for the fruition of His plan.
The earth is many millions of years old, there is no denying that. But since the time God restored earth, created man on it, that period of time has been six thousand years. The seven thousandth year is God’s where He will usher in what He promises in Rev 21:2.

Some of these comments are saddening. There are so many different viewpoints, all utterly convinced their knowledge is complete and correct and no one else’s is. Like the common man, they are convinced they have all the answers to everything at every point in their lives. The wisest and humblest among us realize that no how matter how much they think they know, there is still much to learn. YOU and I will be wrong about some things, perhaps a lot of them.
Accept this and have the STRENGTH to admit that much of what you believe now is only your best guess. Look at your own history — have you ever been wrong? Look at society’s history. They are very similar in nature.
