Not just a sheep was slaughtered, but a lamb.
Since they didn’t have a Temple in which to make the sacrifice, according to Jewish law, they erected a picture of it. Notice the dome of the rock in the background.
Why a lamb? A lamb represents Jesus.

Many faults here but here but here is one of yours going down. When Jesus saw this end time, it was that generation he was seeing that was not to pass away. Not the few he was talking to. Now all that he spoke of has not happened yet. Now when he spoke another time, he said some standing here. Your are not used to great men having visions and being caught up into it.
