Blown Away by Jesus

Matthew chapter 13:53-58 (continued)
“Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables that He departed from there. When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, ‘Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary?
And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?’ So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.’ Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”
As we come to end of this chapter it has been a bit of journey to get through it. I remember as a kid when I first got into preaching that some of these passages would be covered in one sermon. But now as the Lord expands my view of life and the world I find that there is so much information in one small passage as opposed to an entire chapter that it is impossible to cover very large portions of the Bible in sermons or lessons.
We have to take little bits and chew on them for a while. We learn to savor the scripture, get the full taste of the lesson and apply it to our lives. Of course the application is what matters, it does not matter how much of the Bible we know, what is important is how much do we apply and allow the Holy Spirit to add to our person.
We are called to be more like Christ, thus we have to be less like us. This is hard for us; we live in a world, even amongst churches, that glorifies the flesh and tells us that we are good. All too often it is made out to be like Jesus came to top up our goodness as opposed to the fact that we are totally depraved and lack any goodness at all. Thus the idea of the transformation we see in Romans 12:1-2 is that we simply stop being caterpillars and begin to be butterflies.
I will admit, my caterpillar is not dying well, it fights and squirms to the top and tries to stifle the butterfly in me. It is a tiresome battle with the flesh, one must be constantly vigilant and I will confess that I envy, yes even in this I am failing, those who make the Christian walk look so easy and seem to have no trouble mirroring Jesus. They always have a great spirits, full of grace and the right words. In the meantime I fight to make sure my mind is on good things, I bite my tongue to not say the wrong thing and I find that grace and graciousness is far from me.
Jesus has just spent a long time teaching through parables and He has imparted to these 12 men and a few ladies who traveled with them the deepest riches of the kingdom of heaven. They are in awe of Him and now they have to be tempered. They have to understand that rejection is a harsh reality of this Christian life and the ministry. Those of us who are Bible students are in awe of the Bible as we begin to see things when we study them.
We get this idea that everyone will be just as awed as we are and we try to teach them and find that they either don’t get it or worse they don’t care. Those who know us best are often the first to reject us and as we can see from this lesson our families are the ones that are the hardest to win. But don’t give up on them there is some good news at the end of this lesson; see you there in a few minutes…
Jesus Came to Teach in a Local Synagogue, Verse 54
Last year the folks from our church and I had the privilege of serving as counselors at the Billy Graham Festival of Hope here in Toronto. Over 40,000 people showed up to hear the gospel and that reflects the kind of response that happens all across the world as they travel. This past weekend they were in Japan for a huge festival with thousands hearing the gospel. But in our text, Jesus shows up in Nazareth— in his home town, and He attends the local synagogue where He teaches the Old Testament Scriptures to the people present and they are astonished. They are at a loss to explain the wonders of His teaching and the power with which He does these mighty works.
They are blown away that He could have this kind of knowledge and command of the Scriptures. They knew him as a carpenter. He was not one of the learned classes. And in those days, heredity was important to your future; the carpenter’s son became a carpenter, the blacksmith’s son a blacksmith, and so on. Jesus was not supposed to be a teacher of the Law, he was just a commoner.
Well this is our first lesson from Jesus for today. No matter what your heritage as far as pedigree and beginning, with the power of God you, too, can become an accomplished Bible teacher. In fact contrary to the spiritual leaders of the time that used biblical knowledge to keep the people down, Jesus used His knowledge to free people. He explained the Bible to them so that they could understand it and apply it to themselves independent of the priest.
The entire goal of the New Testament church and the Bible is to encourage people to be “self-feeders” in the Scriptures. Read and study on your own. God is able to open your eyes and your hearts if it is your desire for Him to do so. In Acts 17:11 we find that the Berean church were diligent students of the Old Testament—they searched the Scriptures.
As a pastor my goal would be to equip the people I serve to ready and study the Bible for them. They should be so familiar with the Bible that it is as important to them as life and blood. They should crave it and need it like water or food.
The problem is that these folks that Jesus taught that day still did not believe that He is who He said He is. They could not wrap their head and hearts around the fact that He is God in the flesh, Jesus the Christ—the Saviour of the world and their rightful King. Thus all they saw was a man who was out of His “element” as a teacher and they just wanted Him to be a carpenter.
Sadly this is how the world today still sees Jesus. They accept Him as a good man, a good teacher, a good example, a good legend and on and on they go. But they simply won’t accept Him as God. And here is that line in the sand that God draws, Jesus must be accepted as God, no lesser acceptance will be allowed by His Father. Once you accept that He is God then all other supernatural possibilities become possible and we are no longer surprised at His wisdom and power; we stand in reverent awe of them.
Jesus Was Not an Only Child, Verse 55
There is teaching in one of the major religions of the world that teaches that Mary remained a virgin for the rest of her life. Well this verse makes it clear that Mary had at least 4 other sons and 2 daughters. The sons are listed here and we are told He had sisters. Thus this myth of Mary’s perpetual virginity is shot to pieces. Now let us move on from here and consider the idea of the perfect sibling.
Could you imagine living in a household where one of the siblings are perfect, literally? Well it is no secret in the Bible that Jesus’ own brother hated him and would rather he be dead; we find them in John 7 encouraging Him to go to Jerusalem even though they knew that the Jews wanted Him dead. Jesus did not have a healthy home life yet He did okay.
Jesus’ own family did not accept Him as Lord. We know of two of His brothers that came to salvation, James (Galatians 1:19) and Jude; Jude was also an author in the New Testament. James, Jesus’ brother was a leader in the church at Jerusalem. So we know for sure that some of Jesus’ earthly family came to salvation and since the records of women were not often recorded we can hope that his sisters saw the light as well as seeing that Mary was an adamant follower of her Son.
The lesson here is that most, if not all prophets, are despised by their families; the reason being is that they are acquainted with all of your flaws and failures. But often strangers give you more respect than your own people. Most pastors have a hard time serving in their home church, the one they grew up in—as sometimes a lot of harbored feelings, just like those that were held against Jesus can simply be walls to ministry work.
But if you live for the Lord and serve Him faithfully God will allow some of your family to grow to love and respect you. The whole goal being of course is to point them to Jesus for salvation.
Unbelief, Verse 58
This is the biggest hindrance to the work that God does in and through us. We find a father struggling with his unbelief in Mark 9:23-24:
“And Jesus said to him, ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”
This is a real struggle for all of us in this life. We believe that Jesus is God. I do, we know that. I have trusted Him as my Savior and I am sure that He can do all things. My questions and the question that many have is this: “Will He do them for me?’
In Luke 17:5 the apostles begged Jesus to “increase their faith.” They understood that they could not do it on their own, so they needed a supernatural infusion of God’s faith to build them. How does God increase our faith? By putting us in positions where we have no choice but to trust Him. We are put in places where we simply have to be “still and know that He is God” (Psalm 46:10).
God put Israel between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army so that they could see the salvation of the Lord. He sold Joseph into slavery and put him in prison unjustly so that one day he could rule Egypt and deliver Israel from a famine. On and on we can go in the Bible with examples of what God does to increase faith, expand belief and grow our dependence on Him and Him only.
This is my cry and I hope that it is yours as well:
“I do believe; help my unbelief.”
If you truly cry this out brace yourself, God will show up and put you to task. Hold on my dear friends, God will not fail you nor abandon you; He simply cannot.
“For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, ‘Fear not; I will help thee.’ (Isaiah 41:13).

It seems to me that religion is the biggest party line of them all. Think how the lines to heaven must get jammed on Sunday mornings! And do you know what I find fascinating? Each and every church dedicated to Christ’s teaching thinks it’s the only one that actually has a private line to the Almighty. And good gosh, I haven’t even mentioned the Muslims, or the Jews, or the theosophists, or the Buddhists, or those who worship America itself just as fervently as, for eight or a dozen nightmare years, the Germans worshipped Hitler.
We came from a mystery and it’s to a mystery we go. Maybe there’s something there, but I’m betting it’s not God as any church understands Him. Look at the babble of conflicting beliefs and you’ll know that. They cancel each other out and leave nothing. If you want the truth, a power greater than yourselves, look to the lightning — a billion volts in each strike, a hundred thousand amperes of current, and temperatures of fifty thousand degrees Fahrenheit. There’s a higher power in that, I grant you. But here, in this building? No. Believe what you want, but I tell you this: behind Saint Paul’s darkened glass, there is nothing but a lie.
Many lines to the almighty? Not if you follow the real truth in Jesus. He is the way the truth and the life no one goes to the “almighty” except through Jesus! For broad is the gate to destruction (seperation from God) and most choose this path, and narrow is the gate to salvation and be few that find it! I believe the Bible is Gods word and i believe it and take it for what is says. I chose to out of faith and sought its teachings for myself and though i dont claim to be an expert i know it well. I dont take a non believing biblical scholars word as a scoffer would think would be a better knowing person, because God only reveals certain understandings to those that believe. Blessed is the man who sees and believes but much more for those that believes and hasnt yet seen. The origins of the Bible is God. The origins of the koran, mahabarita however you spell it along with all other religious text is from the fallen angels in some capacity. The teachings of the true God is from Gods kingdom not of this world, the rest is of this world and this is a fallen world.

We live in a “prove it generation”n too bad most people cant see that God is proving it to this generation but spiritual warfare from dark presences has stolen peoples ability to see it. Also taken good ol fashion common sense! God said it would be like this but i thank God i was raised in church because i eventually desired to know God and His word and now i am blown away at the wisdom that it has gradually made me come to understand. I now see how the Bible is 100% fact flawless and trully from God! I am also astonished how so many are excepting falsehoods about the Bible and cant tell a lie from the truth. People dig something up and they accept it as though it has to be fact. “Christianity came from a pagon religions” “the word ‘amen’ comes from egyptian diety” or whatever the lie is. They accept these things as though it wasnt done for the purpose of misleading when it really has been. Satan has been anticipating the generation in which we live and you know how he gets the information that tells him its that time? From the Bible! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and sea…..(woe because of how powerfully impactful satan can be in peoples life and how he easily misleads people) for the devil has come down having great wrath because he know his time is short (having great wrath is a warning saying basically he doesnt use his ability to the fullest until that time when he knows its the last generation, he has never showed his best cards so that when he does it will make his deceptions more powerful) he knows his time is short because the Bible tells us when the last generation will begin and it describes the last generation perfectly and its our time period today and you just got to know how to discern Gods word properly and i dont mean what some scholar thinks it says. We are giving everything we need to be able to recognize if we are that generation and we really are this time! Yeah every generation had those that believed they where this prophesied last generation but you know what makes our generation different from the other generations? Well one of the big answers are in that question…..different! The Bibles book of Jerimiah 30 gives us a very important indicator and many never have heard of it and you never hear mentioned in any prophecy discussions and satan definately knows how powerful it is. It basically tells us the last generation will be a drastically unique time period and if the other indicators are happening at this time when the world is not like it used to be then we can know we are in it. If you come home one day and there is a man not a woman but a man laying on you floor giving birth…would it be a shocking surprise that is totally unexpected? Of course. It would be similar if you took a person from 4000yrs ago or 2000yrs ago or 400 yrs ago and they all of a sudden came to our day they would have the same unexpecting reaction that you did. They wouldnt have that kind of reaction if you took them to any other time period though! Sure they would see some change but not drastic change as they would with today! One sign from the charteristics of last generation man is men will be lovers of pleasure. Well there always been that but in our time period its on a much higher level….again dramactically different. This is how you discern the signs of the times. People cant discern the signs of the times because they look at in the wrong way. If you really learned how to do it right and look at it all….it doesnt take much common sense to come to the conclusion that the Bible could not have come from man! Man can not predict the future like this with 100% pefection and if you have looked deeply at Bible prophecy and cant see it….its not the Bible but your vision and understanding thats the problem! There are prophecies that God said that is sealed and will only be unsealed during the last generation. Well they are now unsealed! How can the whole world witness an event happen as it happens? Well you couldnt answer that unless you are living in this generation, man couldnt understand these sealed prophecies until this dramatically unique generation of ours came along! When israel was reborn in 1948 the countdown begun! Know how many years ago that was? Fixing to be 70years! If we have been in the last generation for 70yrs….then we must be about to see the 7yr tribulation! Look around you! Look at the state of the world! Nations will be in distress and perplexed by problems at the same time the world is having serious climate/weather issues! Is that happeding? Yes! Signs are not whether they have always happened, its about how they happen in the last generation compared to the other generations or the rest of the history of man. Ill finish with this. Jesus prophesied and said ” this generation (which happens to be this one!) will not pass until all these things be fulfilled. This is what it could mean to our generation…i believe that some of those that was alive in 1948 when Israel became a nation will still be alive to see the 2nd coming of Jesus! The youngest they could be right now would be 69 yrs old and the 2nd coming happens at the end of the 7yr tribulation and if that tribulation started say in may of 2018…those people would be 77yrs old at the 2nd coming. If the trib doesnt start for another 10yrs they would be 94yrs old! Yes people do live that long but we are pushing it! This generation could easily have less than 10 years left and again 7yrs of that would be the trib period so in other words the trib could easily start within the next 3 yr now im not putting a date on it because we dont know the DAY or the HOUR but it does say that we CAN KNOW when it is near even at the door! I honestly believe the trib will likely begin sooner than 3 or 4 years and from understanding how satan operates and witnessing his actions of distractions such as about every person you look at what are they doing? Staring at thier little pocket idols called cellphones…it tells me that satan may be expectimg that trumpet to sound at any time now! If you dont want to be separated from God forever…tell Him that!

The book of Revelation offers us an interesting Theological dilemma. It states Rev 22:16. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. Revelation also states it is “the true sayings” of Jesus and that it is “the testimony of Christ”. If this is not “the gospel of Jesus Christ” then what is it and should we consider it accursed testimony of an angel? If it is not to be considered accursed, then it cannot be some other gospel message then what was already given previously. However, this is the conundrum, for if this is the gospel message, then why do so few understand it? There is a possibility which few consider but is the overall thesis of this apology. The reason people don’t understand revelation is because they never understood what the gospel message was in the first place! In that case, where does that put those who claim it is not essential for salvation? Do you not find it quite curious that the most “Personally” given NT book By Jesus himself, is the least understood and given the least importance for Salvation in Christendom?….There are numerous preachers and bible exegetes but as Paul said “… I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge” . Most who profess the name of Christ are feeding on doctrines of devils and the ignorant.. There are, without question, many “qualified” teachers and scholars with many years of “dedication” and “solid education”. However, teachers, no matter how well lettered or numbered in degrees; if obtained from others; who are just as equally ignorant in such matters, are just “ blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”………………

The second coming took place already and Christ promised that only HIS PEOPLE would see him ….John 14:19. Yet a little while, and THE WORLD SEETH ME NO MORE;….. And THEY SAW THE GOD OF ISRAEL : and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. 11. And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also THEY SAW GOD, and did eat and drink………..But Christ said….. John 1:18. NO MAN HATH SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. A person can see with their understanding and or see with their eyes…. It can see “seen” for certain that everything that Christ described was seen by the folks of that day in His coming but do they perceive that was him? …So what Christ said is true every eye saw him but the world does not see him….. With the eye they and folks still today can see everything Christ described to have taken place, but they do not “keep” ( believe and understand) his words as such they do not see him nor shall they ever.
The saints who have physical died faithful in the flesh (every man in his own order) are changed in the blink of an eye & caught up to sit on that Great white throne ( this congregation of the saints is the body of Christ that folks will answer to at the judgment and these saints will judge all men who cannot see Christ along with the rest of the world……Folks think they are waiting to see Jesus but they will NEVER see Jesus himself they will only see the body of Christ condemn them the saints judge the world (Rev 3:21; 1 Cor 6:2 et al) the saints are the body of Christ…that is the only part of Christ they shall see….only the saints shall see God face to face…..most peoples idea of the second coming & day of the Lord and the judgment is completely wrong

#1 “ONE” not triune: ……PART 4 & 5 HOW MANY GODS ARE THERE FOR THE ONE GOD TO TALK TO?? Who was Jesus praying to??!?…. The real question should be … How does having multiple different persons keep this one God/being/entity from praying to himself?! (The trinitarian “schizophrenic” “god-head”) The Trinitarians want to have their cake and eat it too as the saying goes. On the one hand they need to say they only worship one indivisible God being/ entity but on the other hand they feel the need for some reason to keep Jesus or God from praying and talking to himself by dividing him up into different persons!?! It never occurs to them that that since there is only one indivisible God to pray too and Jesus is that indivisible God come in the flesh that he would need to talk to himself as to show us how to live, suffer, pray and die for our/ flesh) benefit not his!?!….. So while Trinitarians are quick to complain that God was not talking to himself at Christ baptism or in Gen “let us” they ignore the logical demands of their own theology! If Jesus is the ONE GOD in flesh and the Father is the SAME ONE GOD in heaven then Trinitarianism demands THE ONE GOD is talking to HIMSELF the same “being”! Claiming that God is multiple different persons as the reason for why God is not talking to himself (because God is three different “selfs”) only demonstrates that what they really worship is in fact not a ONE GOD who talks to himself but three different god “selfs”/ and they all talk to each other! When they speak about who God was talking and praying to, they are quick to say “the other person, NOT HIMSELF!” But if you ask them how many gods do they pray to then they will say “ONLY ONE”!?! They expect you to believe that those three different persons are THE ONE GOD-BEING” which is like calling three different cars “THE ONE VEHICLE” (they are text book examples of prov 26:12)
Mark 12:28…Which is the first commandment of all? 29. …Hear, O Israel; THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD: 30. And ………..this is the first commandment….. 31. And the second is….. IF YOU CAN’T GET THIS “FIRST OF ALL COMMANDMENTS” RIGHT, ALL THE REST OF YOUR “FAITH” AND PREACHING ON LOVE & SIN IS MOOT

Even Islam claims Jesus was the Jewish messiah/Christ who was to come in the flesh) they all deny “WHO” it was (what person) that came (to be the Christ) in the flesh!?!…….To deny the father is to deny the son because they are one and the same person that came in the flesh!
JOHN 14: 8-20 ….Note Isaiah 9:6. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: …: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, … the everlasting Father ….The son, father/Holy Spirit are all the same person, NOT like two different persons working together even as “one flesh” ….The “oneness” between Christ and the father is not comparable to a man & his wife, for only a fool would say “When you have seen me you have seen my wife, how sayest thou then, Shew us your wife?” Notice they asked to see THE FATHER and the response was Jn 14:9 ..“HAVE I BEEN SO LONG time with you, and yet hast THOU NOT KNOW ME, Philip…..Now image some fool trying to claim that statement if you asked to see his wife!?!!? You want to see the FATHER but have I been with you but you don’t know me!?!?!
Jn 14 continued….…………..17. Even THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH; (Jn 14:6 I AM the way, THE TRUTH,) whom the world cannot receive, .. for HE DEWLLETH WITH YOU, (present tense/standing next to them in the flesh) and SHALL BE IN YOU… (future tense “In them”) 18. I will not leave you comfortless: I WILL COME TO YOU (future tense “In them”) Note: The spirit of Christ is the sprit of God and the holy spirit that is why Christ said “I will come to you” (to comfort them, because Christ is the comforter). The spirit was standing next to them in flesh… ….latter it would come to them to be inside of them (inside of their flesh as the spirit we are given)…..that is why. he would send the spirit…… However, Jesus himself here makes the point that the same person who was the HOLY SPIRIT that would come was standing next to them but lets them know “I will come to you again to be Inside of you”
The whole point to Gal 3:20.a mediator is NOT A MEDIATOR OF ONE, (HEIS) but GOD IS ONE. (HEIS) again, point blank, identifies the number of persons of God! The “but” points out the contrast between multiple persons in a mediation party v the “one” of God. God is not like a mediation party with multiple different persons. …..”the express image of his person” ( the person of God; singular not plural).Any attempt to lay claim otherwise is willful ignorance and delusional nonsense

(2) “MANY CALLED”= ONLY and ALL SAINTS (those who come to Christ) are written in the book of life … Philippians 4:3… ……Rev 21:27; (Only saints are Called and elect; Rom 1:6-7 et al) This is THE CHRUCH and ONLY these can have their names blotted out of the book of life ….….Heb 12:23 to the general assembly and CHURCH of the firstborn … WHICH ………are WRITTEN in heaven,
(3) THE FEW CHOSEN: Those saints who were alive in group #2 who are now physically dead. They died “faithful” these are the FEW that were chosen faithful…….Rev 3:5. ……; and I
will not BLOT OUT HIS NAME OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE, (Ps 69:28) …. These are the FEW that are CHOSEN and now that they have died and are saved then “once saved THEY CAN NEVER BE LOST”

Dear john, we have spoken before,in the times when one can actually have a conversation,when all the loonies were not here.
I have no doubt that we shall never shift our own opinions, but I will always read and appreciate your posts.
Topically though, there was a lady on the news this night,which I’m sure you’ve seen,where her house was destroyed by a natural calamity. She said, ‘thankyou god we were not in the house at the time’.
How about the times that people died from such a disaster? Was god not there then.
You cannot be picky about this. Either he is there or not.
