Last night, Brock Osweiler made $1,125,000 in a humiliating 27-0 loss to the New England Patriots, who started a rookie Quarterback for the first time since 1993. Let’s break that down for a second.
I was a firm believer that the Broncos made a mistake in letting this guy go. I hated it the entire off-season, and as a Baltimore Orioles fan, I could only think of Jake Arietta. I thought for sure we had let a future superstar walk out of the door. Now, I do think last night was a combination of poor play calling and over exerted throws, but I was filled with pride to know that this guy is no longer in the huddle for the Broncos.
Trevor Siemian may have his issues, but he didn’t spend 3 years behind Peyton Manning either. Brock let it go to his head. He made bad decisions and threw the ball as hard as he possibly could on almost every throw, almost Jay Cutler like. I’ll sit back and be patient waiting for Siemian to develop, but I am thankful that I have not had to watch the Broncos play a game as dreadful as the game that I watched last night.
The irony is, Brock got the contract from the Texans because of how “he” beat the Patriots last year. News flash: CJ Anderson and the Denver Defense beat the Patriots last year. Brock was simply an ornament. Enjoy your seventy-two million dollar man, Houston.
