After eight weeks of action, teams are starting to settle into their respective tiers both nationally and within their conferences. Let’s take a look at how each team stacks up against the competition in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

1. Clemson (7-0)

Ranked third in the College Football Playoff rankings, they are on track for an appearance in the four team tournament come New Year’s Eve.

2. Louisville (6-1)

Other than a close loss to Clemson, Louisville has steamrolled both conference and nonconference foes alike. Lamar Jackson looks like the national player of the year.

3. North Carolina (6-2)

The Tar Heels are already going bowling, and they would be in the ACC title game if the season ended today, which could boost their profile.

4. Florida State (5-2)

The Seminoles are 2-2 in conference play, but they have consecutive wins against Wake Forest and Miami heading into a big game against Clemson.

5. Virginia Tech (5-2)

The Hokies follow a loss to Syracuse with a win against Miami. Which team will show up this week against the Panthers?

6. Pittsburgh Panthers (5-2)

Panther quarterbacks have combined for 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Pittsburgh could lead the Coastal division if they beat Virginia Tech.

7. Wake Forest (5-2)

The Demon Deacons are typically a laughing stock in the ACC. However, at 5-2, they are only one game away from their first bowl game since 2011 and only the 11th in team history.

8. Miami Hurricanes (4-3)

While Syracuse could easily be in this spot, the Hurricanes are probably the more talented team and most likely to win six or more games this year.

9. Syracuse Orange (4-4)

The new motto in Syracuse is “Orange Is the New Fast.” Syracuse looks to build upon wins against Virginia Tech and Boston College as Dino Babers gets his team to buy in.

10. North Carolina State (4-3)

After a hot start to the season, they are regressing to the mean, which hasn’t been very good in recent seasons.

11. Georgia Tech (4-3)

The Yellow Jackets hung close with Clemson in a matchup at home earlier this season. However, the triple option is out of place in today’s game.

12. Virginia (2-5)

Virginia is ranked 12th thanks to their win over Duke and the fact that they can claim a win within the conference this year.

13. Duke (3-4)

Duke is perhaps the most disappointing team in the ACC this season. They are 0-3 in ACC play with a potentially winnable game against Georgia Tech up next.

14. Boston College (3-4)

Boston College just lost to Syracuse at home and are 0-4 in the ACC. Head coach Steve Addazio may not be the one roaming the sidelines for the Eagles much longer.
