This will be a quick post here, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
It’s happened. The streak is over.
Boston College finally won an ACC game today, as the Eagles went down to Raleigh and took out the N.C. State Wolfpack 21-14.
NC State had the first big play when Ryan Finley hit Bra’lon Cherry with a long TD pass. Jeff Smith answered quickly on a 60 yard jetsweep to give the Eagles a 10-7 lead. N.C. State took the lead in the 3rd quarter on a questionable touchdown catch by Kelvin Harmon.
But BC wouldn’t be denied in this one, when Scot Loeffler and Steve Addazio brought out some trickeration as Davon Jones hit Tommy Sweeney in the end zone for a touchdown. The two point conversion was good and BC was up 21-14 with four minutes left, after a huge kickoff return, NC State had the ball at the two yard line when they turned it over.
The Eagles defense made play after play all game, and sealed the victory with a Kamrin Moore interception with under two minutes left in the game. Ty Schwab also had an interception for the Eagles. Harold Landry and Zach Allen also made big plays for the defense in the victory.
There you go, a win for the Eagles. Next week the challenge is going to be even tougher, as the Louisville Cardinals fresh off a close victory over UVA come to town.
You don’t want to see a team go winless in conference (much less winless in two years) – and Boston College didn’t have an ACC football win since November 29, 2014.
Congrats to Boston College.
