Broncos executive vice president of football operations and general manager John Elway announced that coach Gary Kubiak won’t coach the team Thursday night after he was diagnosed with a complex migraine condition, ESPN reports.
“He’s going to have this week off. He’s going to be back on Monday,” Elway said.
Elway said Kubiak was “on the way home” from the hospital Monday afternoon.
Special-teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis will be the interim coach for Thursday night’s game against the San Diego Chargers.
DeCamillis said his message to the team was “we have to get ready to roll quick.”
Elway said offensive coordinator Rick Dennison will call plays on offense and Wade Phillips will continue to call plays on defense.
