The Giants cut Josh Brown on Tuesday afternoon after weeks of standing behind the disgraced kicker, Dan Duggan of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
“We believed we did the right thing at every juncture in our relationship with Josh,” co-owner John Mara said in a statement. “Our beliefs, our judgments and our decisions were misguided. We accept that responsibility.”
The decision comes six said safter it was revealed that Brown had admitted to physical abuse of his wife in emailed letters, personal journal entries and counseling exercises. The written admissions were evidence in a King Country (Wash.) Sherriff’s Office investigation into Brown’s alleged abuse of his wife.
Brown was placed on the reserve/commissioner exempt list on Friday by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Brown was on paid leave while on the exempt list.
