Ravens Want Dixon More Involved

Harbaugh wants Kenneth Dixon more involved

According to Jamison Hensley, “Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he would like to see rookie RB Kenneth Dixon play more.” According to rotoworld.com, Dixon has only managed nine touches in three games this season, but since drafting him nearly six months ago, Baltimore has had big plans for him.

The Ravens will host the Steelers in Week 9, as both teams are off this week. Last Sunday, Baltimore rushed for only six yards at New York (Jets), and Pittsburgh allowed 140 rushing yards versus New England. Additionally, Joe Flacco leads the league in passing attempts.

It’s easy to see why Harbaugh wants to re-establish Baltimore’s run game.

Lorenzo Taliaferro was active last week but only had one carry for zero yards, and Buck Allen continues to be a non-factor. Therefore, consider Dixon a 10-12-touch back in Week 9, with 70-80 total yards not out of the question.

Falcons preparing for Coleman to miss time

In Sunday’s game against the Chargers, Falcons running back Tevin Coleman sustained a hamstring injury. According to Kelsey Conway of AtlantaFalcons.com, “the severity of the injury is unclear at this moment.”

Both Coleman and Devonta Freeman have been outstanding this season for the league’s best offense. Both players have scored in excess of 110 fantasy points each and rank 7th and 8th respectively (among points scored by running backs) in standard Yahoo! leagues.

Obviously, this isn’t an injury that should cause you to drop him from your team, but it is one that could keep him out for 3-4 weeks. The Falcons have three more games before their Week 11 bye. Coleman should definitely be back in action by the time Atlanta hosts Arizona in Week 12.

10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets Heading Into Week 8

One of the more interesting waiver wire pickups of this week will be Redskins tight end Vernon Davis. He would be a solid pickup for multiple reasons.

First of all, Jordan Reed is still dealing with a concussion. On Monday, Reed was cleared to practice, however returning to a controlled practice environment after sustaining a concussion and playing at Cincinnati against the likes of Vontaze Burfict are two very different things.

Second of all, for those of you that are looking for a tight end, Davis can be more than serviceable. According to Matt Kupferle of numberFire.com, Davis gained 50 yards and scored a touchdown, while on the field for 97.3 percent of Washington’s offensive snaps in Week 6. Last week Davis gained 79 yards receiving.

Kirk Cousins likes to throw the ball, especially to his tight end. While the Bengals are traditionally a stingy defense week-in and week-out, Kupferle points out that Cincinnati is surrendering an average of 10 points to tight ends this season.

Top Yahoo! adds for Week 8

QB: Jameis Winston (3,410, 17th overall)

WR: Davante Adams (8,969, 2nd overall)

RB: Chris Thompson (11,644, 1st overall)

TE: Jack Doyle (7,699, 3rd overall)

K: Dan Bailey (6,083, 6th overall)

D/ST: New York Jets (7,664, 4th overall)
