Aqib Talib

It appears that Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has some serious explaining to do, as a report tonight from USA Today says that the shooting that involved the CB was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and that he was not shot by someone else.

Here’s the story:

The Dallas Police Department has determined Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib shot himself in Dallas in the early morning hours of June 5, people familiar with the case told WFAA. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because police had not released their findings.

Initially, Talib told police he heard a gunshot and fell to the ground. He was shot in the leg and driven in his Rolls Royce to a local hospital, where he was treated.

Talib refused a follow-up interview with the Dallas Police Department. Instead, his lawyer spoke for him.

Talib had also been at a strip club earlier that night where two men were shot, but people familiar with the investigation say police could not confirm he was at the club during that shooting.

The cornerback could still face discipline from the NFL, which is also investigating the incident.
