Rams No.1-overall pick quarterback Jared Goff is still “a long way from playing” according to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report.
Apparently Goff still has not mastered audibles at the line of scrimmage, which is a basic and essential skill for QBs in the NFL. The information reportedly comes from a source within the Rams organization.
Even with Case Keenum coming off a disastrous four-interception game in Week 7, the Rams remain hesitant to throw their No. 1 pick into the fire. Many observers questioned the Rams’ decision to go with Goff over Carson Wentz, who had played in more of a pro-style offense in college despite hailing from an FBS school.
The other issue is the apparent lack of a competent NFL quarterback guru on the Rams staff to develop Goff. We would still expect to see Goff make his NFL debut soon, especially if the Rams keep losing.
