What’s the most exciting thing in football? Trades. What’s the most exciting thing in fantasy? Trades. With the NFL trade deadline approaching on Tuesday I thought we’d use this week’s edition of the 4 Downs to focus on four trades that we in the fantasy community would love to see. 1st Down | Torrey Smith to the Philadelphia Eagles Torrey Smith is being held hostage by the 49ers passing game. During the first 5 games of the season, while his quarterback was Blaine Gabbert, Smith averaged 21.2 receiving yards per game and did not top 60 yards once. This production is not due from lack of targets however. Smith averaged 4.6 targets per game during the Gabbert stretch which is enough to put up reputable numbers. However, its arguable almost only 50% of the targets thrown his way could be deemed ‘catchable’ passes thanks to Gabbert’s inaccuracy. Smith proved he still has it during his week 6 matchup against the Bills and their great secondary. He caught 3 passes for 76 yards and a TD in Colin Kaepernick’s return to the starting line-up.
