2016 has been a year of weird and wonderful happenings in the NFL. On this week’s edition of The 4 Downs we take a look at the fantasy trends that have developed over the course of the season. From a switch from dynamic passing offenses to dominant running games, a new era in quarterbacking and some players who have most definitely proven us wrong this year, it certainly has been a year of paradigm shifts. 1st Down | 2016: The down year for WR1s In 2015 we witnessed the fantasy explosion of countless wide receivers. For the first time in a few years, the first round of this season’s drafts were dominated by more receivers than runningbacks and many owners even employed a zero RB strategy. Aside from Julio Jones and A.J. Green, the consensus first round receivers this year have severely disappointed us and most wide-outs that were drafted as top-20 WRs have not returned their value. Yes Antonio Brown is still the WR3 this season but considering he has nearly 300 less yards at this stage than he did in 2015, AB has not necessarily given you the production you were looking for if you took him 1.01.
