Garrett Releases Statement Following Announcement of Suspension, Apologizes to Steelers QB Rudolph

The actions by the NFL to suspend Browns defensive end Myles Garrett came quickly on Friday, as the league announced he would be sitting without pay and won’t play for the rest of this season.

The end came back with a written statement released by the team in which Garrett apologizes for his actions as well as says ‘sorry’ to Steelers QB Mason Rudolph, who he swung a helmet at during the Browns 21-7 win.

Here’s the statement from Garrett:

“Last night, I made a terrible mistake. I lost my cool and what I did was selfish and unacceptable. I know that we are all responsible for our actions and I can only prove my true character through my actions moving forward. I want to apologize to Mason Rudolph, my teammates, our entire organization, our fans and to the NFL. I know I have to be accountable for what happened, learn from my mistake and I fully intend to do so.”

Browns defensive linemen Larry Ogunjobi has also been suspended one game and fined for the incident, and Steelers center Markuice Pouncey was suspended for three games for his role in the fight.
