Hyannis Port, MA - Scott Browns candidacy for Senate has picked up another surprising endorsement. The Cap Cod Times has endorsed Scott Brown.
The Cape Cod Times has backed Scott Brown for Senate over his rival Democratic opponent Martha Coakley. The Cape Cod Times is the newspaper of record on the Cape. Intrade futures, financial instruments to mimic polls, show Scott Brown leading in the polls 54-46.
Excerpt from www.capecodonline.com opinion page:
Impressed with his energy and with hopes for his independence, we support Scott Brown in the special election for U.S. Senate...And when we took a closer look at Brown and his platform, we liked what we saw. Brown is an independent Republican who supports President Obama's strategy in Afghanistan. He supports women's right to choose, though he opposes partial-birth abortion and believes in strong parental notification laws...Brown also brings to the race a perspective that no other candidate can claim: As a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard, he is uniquely aware of the importance and sacrifice of our men and women serving in the armed forces...There are many people who would like to make this race a referendum on the current health care debate, but the election is more than one issue, no matter how important that issue might be. This election is about representing the people of Massachusetts on all issues...It is no surprise that Brown has been gaining momentum in a state, even though Democrats outnumber Republicans three to one. He has run an energetic campaign and has been outspoken on the issues. More importantly, however, we believe he is less likely of the two candidates to toe the party line. For example, in an editorial board meeting with the Cape Cod Times earlier this week, Brown was critical of President Bush and defended President Obama regarding the current financial crisis..."I would not have been overwhelmingly re-elected if I didn't know how to work across party lines," Brown said in the primary. "If the Democrats have a good idea, I'd be happy to vote with them." Brown is exactly what Washington needs — someone who will vote his conscience rather than spew party rhetoric. The notion of change as an important ingredient here cannot be underestimated, not because the Democrats are necessarily on the wrong path, but because good government is enhanced by two viable parties. In the special Senate election on Tuesday, we recommend Scott Brown.

It is Scott Brown who understands what the true costs of ComradeCare, Cap & Trade, Illegal Immigration and the continued Leftist Socialist agenda of those who hold captive the Democratic Party in Washington D.C. at this point in our history. The Healthcare Bill currently proposed is actually a Health Control Bill, destined to bankrupt the Taxpayer and cause a mass Exodus of Doctors, Research Scientists and the fledgling Biotech industry here in Massachusetts, to foreign shores. A "Brain Drain" in reverse. No longer will the Worlds greatest and smartest seek America as the "Shining Beacon on the Hill" when they are provided the freedom and finances to pursue the best elsewhere. I'm voting FOR Scott Brown and AGAINST the furthur decline of America into the morass of Leftist Socialism. GO SCOTT BROWN!!!Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, January 16, 2010
Scott Brown is the best candidate for US Senate. Show the Chicago political machine that they can't destroy this country without us putting up a fight. Stop Owebama by electing Scott Brown! Snd him a clear message and throw the Dumbacrats out of office.Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010
I am a PA conservative. I wish I could vote tomorrow. I've donated to the Scott Brown Campaign, but that's all I can do. Please MA...vote for balance in the congress. It is never good when one party hase their way with us. Lets get some balance!Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010
Stop big government and vote to get our country back. "We the People" are awake and the silent majority will be silent no more. We want our country back! We say NO to this so called health bill which only increases the size of government. When bribed votes for this bill are paid for by our tax dollars and special interest groups like the the big unions get special exemptions from the taxes that will be on our backs, and everything is done behind closed doors with only one party present...wake up...there is something wrong here. Stop the direction of this great country and vote for Scott Brown. We need common sense in congress. God bless America!Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010
I can see why MA and specifically Scott Brown is winning in the polls - for statements that begin such as the one below from a poster that must have been baptized as a democrat and just cannot see the forest for the trees--- GO Scott Brown. @"Excuse me, what kind of crap is the last statement: " Don't let the government divide us..We must stand firm to stop the current administration's attempt to destroy what has made this country great for the last 234 years! " Do I need to remind you that it was the last 8 years of Bush that has put this country on its knees!!!......"Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010
I am not a member of any political party. However, many Democrats seem unable to wake up to the evils of big government until we are all standing in bread lines. It looks like we will be standing in health care lines, but there will still be George Bush and some freedom, Capitalism, and free markets left on which to blame this. Buying health care or health insurance is not the same as bashing someone on their head and stealing their wallet. The government should control and regulate the latter, non-peaceful behavior. How much peaceful behavior must the government control before people realize that they have voted themselves into slavery? The slaves in the antebellum south had "free" health care, housing, food, etc. Of course they had no choice in the quality of the product and could not opt out of paying for it. Sound familiar? Is this a political "ideal"?Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010

Excuse me, what kind of crap is the last statement: " Don't let the government divide us..We must stand firm to stop the current administration's attempt to destroy what has made this country great for the last 234 years! " Do I need to remind you that it was the last 8 years of Bush that has put this country on its knees!!! The people have voted, and in 2009 opted for a charismatic and intelligent person in Obama. Do you think voting Scott Brown will reverse the stubbornness of the Republican party who has done everything to stay away from open dialogue and compromise. At this point I am more interested in keeping Ted Kennedy's legacy and will not vote for a person that could jeopardize the current Democratic agenda that is meant to pass health care reforms and put meaningful laws that is meant to get this great nation back where it deserves!Posted by Concerned Citizen on Monday, January 18, 2010

Maybe you need to remind yourself that the US economy was humming along pretty well until the dems took over congress. Obama is not so darn "intelligent". Charismatic, yes. Intelligent, no. The man can't even make a blooming 30 second press announcement without his fully packed telepromptor. Plus, frankly, I think he's a Manchurian Candidate who doesn't make ANY decisions on his own. He's a puppet. But nevermind, the Koolaid swillers are waking from their giddy stupor and realizing what the hell they've done. They've all got a bad morning after case of, "What the hell have I done?" Scott Brown is a chance to start to remedy that hangover.Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 18, 2010

A vote for Scott Brown is a vote for "We the People." This is not about Democrat vs Republican this is about a vote for Democracy! Send a crushing message to Washington that WE don't want BIG Government to take over every aspect of our lives, that we don't work for the Government, and that the Government works for "We the People." Don't let the government divide us..We must stand firm to stop the current administration's attempt to destroy what has made this country great for the last 234 years! The party is over for all of the corrupt politicians for we have awakened to their scams and we must send the message with our vote for Scott Brown.Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010

For the person who wrote a rebuttal: Don't you get IT? Big Government is NOT the ANSWER...that will create more power/control over the people. Show me a country that has Big Government and I will show you people who either are very unhappy or think they are happy because they have never lived in a Great Country with freedoms such as are found in the USA. Governments who want more power say things that divide all of us which is exactly what they want so they keep us down and under their control. Life, Liberty, & pursuit of happiness with less govenment where "We the People" call the shots not the other way around should be a no brainer!! Our brave men and women have shed much blood for us all to have this freedom. Don't you get IT!! In reference to Obama healthcare...this is just a way to establish more control over us all...once they control our healthcare they control our lives because we have to have the Government...SEE what I mean. I am for healthcare reform but not this kind of Obama healthcare reform. I served as Capt USMC and like many veterans when you require medical attention for something other than the very basics such as for colds-sniffles you seek professional medical attention not at the base hospital but in the private sector because of their excellent quality care. Why would you want the politicians in whom you have no confidence/trust in charge of YOUR Health Care? Wake up - Obama's health care should not be supported until we clean up the corruption in Congress. If Obama care was so great then why is it that the politicians are not signing on too for their own healthcare! If this bill passes quality healthcare insurance will sky rocket and quality of care will plummet!Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010
I'm from California and thrilled about the message this election will send across America! No more politics as usual from both parties "Good Old Boys" clubs! "Arnie" was part of that club, and look where it's taken our state, BANKRUPT! The political machine must be destroyed! Thank you Massachusetts for being the "shot that's heard across America"! We stand with you! GO SCOTT BROWN!Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010
