Consulate Chancellor: 'Music is wonderful'

LOS ANGELES—New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts played to a full house at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, The Music Center in Los Angeles, in the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 6. The audience responded warmly, laughing at the jokes and applauding for a curtain call.

Mr. Trucco, a Consulate Chancellor said he loved the show. “The choreography—it’s a lot of work—and the dancers are coordinated, beautifully and artistically. The combination of the lighting, dance, and music is wonderful—amazing. I’m very happy to be here,” he said.

Another audience member, Mr. Gollakota, an electrical engineer, also loved the show and commented on the choreography and colors: “It was beautiful choreography and I wasn’t expecting such good coordination between the color of the costumes and the background. Snow and blue sky and ocean and clouds; it was just beautiful.

I also like the commentary [on the persecution]. That was refreshing, [a] got-to-see—wonderful! He was referring to Nothing Can Block the Divine Path and Astounding Conviction. Those dances describe the courage and heroism of contemporary Chinese practitioners of Falun Dafa.

He found spirituality in the singing: “I like the baritone very much and the soprano. [The] baritone sang twice and that was all spiritual, about god and everything. I think that’s a universal message, and that was great. I really enjoyed the show.”

“I have a lot of Chinese friends and hope they’re all here watching. If not, I hope everybody watches it, Chinese or otherwise. And actually I’m planning to tell my family in New York that they should see it when it plays in Radio City Music Hall next,” he concluded, planning to spread the word.

Mr. Zees, a defense engineer, was profoundly and poetically moved by Shen Yun: “Fabulous. What a beautiful expression of culture! It’s a beautiful expression of pride and keeping a culture alive. It was nice.”

“I wish I understood more. I feel there was a depth to it. There was a vitality that was just lost on me—some of it. But, I could feel the spirit.

“It was a spirit of yearning, a spirit of purity, a spirit not to be diminished by anything earthly. I hope I’ve understood enough of it to walk away with a good appreciation. Just come and see it. It’s a nice, moving experience.”

Shen Yun has three dance companies and three orchestras. While one company performs 10 shows in Los Angeles, the other Shen Yun companies will be performing in Worcester, Mass., Dallas, Texas, Springfield, Ill., St. Louis, Mo., and New York, N.Y.
