Witness Statement: In the garden smoking looking over a valley in countryside and Mossley. Appeared to be bright white headlight, a star looking bright white light moving at a moderate speed. No navigation light or strobe configuration and continuous white light visible for maybe over a mile in distance. In comparison I saw an aircraft approaching on a regular flight path that was some distance, yet I could clearly see the aircrafts red light marker.
No obvious solid body shape or configuration. This was however a solid object, not an ‘orb’ or something.
I have rationed that it could resemble a hot air balloon with its canvas lit up by bright white flood light, however it did not appear to display any navigation strobe or marker lights. It was heading northeast? It was dark and clear skies stars clearly visible in sky, aircraft in vicinity to take visual reference too. 2 mins. This must be explainable it resembled a Chinese lantern but was obviously larger, had a bright continuous white light and was very clearly visible up to mile or more at least.
