Moved To Seattle Area

Well– I’m back to the area of my birth! Once upon a time, I was born in and spent the first 4 years of my life in Seattle. Then my family moved to the Portland area of Oregon and that’s where I’ve spent the majority of my years.

Now I’m somewhere east of Seattle, living in an older neighborhood in very woodsy rolling hills. This is Pacific Northwest Yuppie Central! I count myself lucky to even experience a place like this, even if for a limited time, because I honestly don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford such a place on my own again!

But my friend Cat lives here; someone I’ve known and been friends with since the age of twelve. She’s in a house that is too big for her, and her mother is facing declining health and cancer treatments– so I’m helping them while they’re helping me. I’m renting two rooms upstairs and sharing the living room/dining and kitchen with them. Again, this is mutually beneficial.

My intention is to make my rooms my own personal ‘nest’ so I can feel as comfortable as possible. To that end, I will be painting them and getting my furniture all arranged to my satisfaction– hopefully done by Labor Day weekend, when I leave for my mini-vacation with Reese to Faerieworlds at Horning’s Hideout!

The challenge is to do all this, after all the packing and moving I’ve done– and NOT fall into a prolonged flare! Over-taxing my energy resources is always a tricky bit of business!

It’ll be a bit tight, both monetarily (OMG — everything is so much more expensive here! Food costs 50-100% more just for a start!) and space-wise, but I can manage if I’m prudent I think.

At some point, I want to find the homes I lived in when I was a toddler. I wonder what they look like now?
