Saying Good-bye To Windy Firs

I’ve been setting aside some time before I move, as I always do, to appreciate this place and time and bid adieu before leaving it.

In this case, I’m also saying good-bye to all the hopes and dreams that were a part of this place, as well as to my life as a married woman. Lots to think about, giving myself space to be sad, or just thoughtful– whatever mood took me I allowed and released over the last few days.

I have also made an effort to spend a little time with the neighbor across the street who has been so kind to me. Last couple of weeks we’ve gone on walks around local parks and chatted about various and sundry. She is gone for a few days now and won’t be here when I leave, so I left her a thank you card for when she gets back. She’s wished me well, and I may drop in on her if I pass through someday.

I suppose I just want to be able to move on when I move out. I want to turn my back to this place as well as this life and face forward for a future of my forging. Taking a moment to bless a place and just love it for existing seems right to me.

Only a few days left before I am gone forever.
