I tried to be careful, but inevitably perhaps, the ennui crept in as I made my move to Ghost Lake– and I lost a crucial folder with legal papers I needed to legally change my name. I was SO careful and tried to keep things in order and…
Today I unpacked 11 boxes, 3 of which fairly large, and went through and put away and organized as I went. I only have a very few boxes left at this point. I found my very first Social Security card with my maiden name on it. Then I found my high school I.D. card. But not my birth certificate and marriage certificate! *face desk*
I notice that a lot of people start losing things when they hit middle age and it tends to get worse from there. For me, with 'fog' issues, I've had to learn to be much more organized or I'd often get lost in my own living room since my 20s. This has given me a couple of decades worth of experience to learn to keep my shit together so as to actually remain functional most of the time when the ol' brain-pan checks out.
However, with all the chaos and craziness, I can see that I really needed to up my game for this move. I was so damned tired, but I still tried to keep track of everything. I have most of what I need ready to go to start my new legal life under my new legal name…
… and I lost that one. fucking. folder.
And I say, “Humph!” again!
I'm taking my own advice and super-organizing absolutely everything around me. My whole house and all my possessions (excepting a antique child's bed and dining set) are now in just 2 rooms and its a bit compact and… dense. So I can't afford to not know exactly where I keep various items and papers. I'm at the point where I'm ready to draw a damned MAP to my own stuff!
