Mouth Injury Goes Septic

Well, I know what caused my flares for the last week… I injured my gums while eating one day (managed to somehow stab myself right under my lips, above my front teeth, where skin meets gums? — yeah there! hurt like hell and bled) and evidently I developed an infection.

It showed up as unspecific tooth pain on my left upper side, but I couldn’t figure out what tooth was hurting. Eventually, I realized that I had an infection above my teeth– it began to swell and everything! Yikes!

So I’m rinsing my mouth out a lot and using the last round of antibiotics I had but never used (because they got switched last minute) to see if I can avoid a trip to the dentist. It’s not a dental issue, exactly– teeth are all fine– its a mouth injury issue (and just WHO is so clumsy they can hurt their own mouths for pity’s sake? ME! Some talent!)

I feel like shit in the meantime, but at least I know what’s wrong and can hopefully take care of it myself. I wouldn’t use antibiotics at all if the injury had healed on its own in the last week, but it obviously went septic and so further steps must be taken.

If this doesn’t work, and I have several days worth of meds to determine this, then I will have no choice but to see a dentist for my gum-stab injury. I really, really, REALLY do not want to do that. I will if I must, but I fucking HATE DENTISTS!!!

I am a coward with PTSD and so I feel justified. Pain, however, will send me for help if nothing else does…
