Demonizing Anthony Bragalia

Most readers here know that Anthony Bragalia, whom I promoted often here over the past few years, had a falling out after the Roswell slide fiasco.

Since then we’ve had a kind of reconciliation, he offering a link to this blog at his UFO site and me providing notes about his new and latest UFO speculations.

He also is one of the few who continues to ask after my health and well-being.

Tony, like many of us, got swept up in a “con” about those notorious and infamous slides that purported to be the body of an alien being (an ET) found in the crash of the alleged flying disc near Roswell in 1947.

Tony, who is (admittedly) gaga about Roswell, got notice of the slides find from Tom Carey who Tony wanted to connect with for the Roswell cachet Carey brought, before the fiasco, to the Roswell scenario.

(Tony has always wanted to be highlighted in the UFO community, and Roswell, one of his obsessive UFO interests, was key to that highlighting and acceptance,)

Tony told me about the slides and I became as nutty as he about the things, swept up in the hysteria of the alleged discovery of a Roswell ET proof,

My friend, Nick Redfern, a judicious UFO journalist, and I collaborated on the find and sometimes manipulated e-mails to the parties involved to see if we could get access to what the story really was, believing at the early stages that there was something to the purported discovery.

The story was juicy and fraught with intriguing details, but then Kevin Randle withdrew from the intrigue and after getting bogus hints about the find, Nick and I became wary of the story, but not to the point of discarding it out of hand.

Tony continued to push the story, immersed in it by Carey and Don Schmitt’s promotion of the people involved and alleged investigation by bona fide experts in Kodak slides.

As the time drew near for the May 2015 spectacle in Mexico, my colleague and close friend Spanish UFO researcher Jose Caravaca provided me insights to Jaime Maussan’s shenanigans and red flags popped up all over the place.

I withdrew from the hysteria, Nick having done so earlier, but Tony Bragalia was still deeply involved, psychologically unable to see the “hoax” for it was, besotted by Carey, Schmitt, and Adam Dew who was conned himself, I think, by a business man named Beason whose sister was the finder of the slides originally.

But right up to the bitter end and denouement, Tony Bragalia went with Carey, Schmitt, Dew, and Maussan, throwing friends, me among them, under the derailed bus.

Tony insisted I was trying to insert myself into the glory of the “alien find” and blasting me and others at every chance he got, right up to the hoax disclosure by the Roswell Slide Research group.

During the slide imbroglio, Tony’s e-mail account and computer was accessed by a person who pulled strings and encouraged nonsense that seemed accurate at the time.

My e-mail and Nick’s appeared to be compromised also, so we change passwords and protected our accounts as best we could. Tony did not.

His business and personal internet access was in control of a hacker who made Tony, and some of the rest of us, work to keep our web accounts intact and unsullied.

The hacker went by the sobriquet, “Through a Glass darkly” from St. Paul’s letter in the New Testament, and which I used in several posting, giving me a clue to the hacker who referred to the term in e-mails and blog comments in those postings.

(Tony didn’t accept my “identification” of the hacker but I have proof of the person.)

This intrusion made Tony even more hysterical, as his business was under attack, and his chance at Roswell immortality (with Carey and Schmitt) too.

At the end of the slides day and hoax disclosure by the Roswell Slides research people, Tony recanted his slides promotion and “stupidity,”

That was too late for many in the UFO community, and those of us attacked by Tony near the end of the silly sojourn left Tony’s one-time friendship.

But two years have gone by and since Tony didn’t kill anyone or commit a Mortal Sin, I took his contact about his renewed effort and UFO site as a reaching out to reaffirm our once friendship.

After all, Tony isn’t an evil person – although some would make him so – he is a guy offering juicy UFO speculations that skeptics hate and which give UFO ET believers hope that Roswell was an ET event, Socorro a prank, and Wanaque a real UFO invasion.

And those attacking him still are not prone to go after Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook construct which is coming apart daily for its evil ways – see WIRED magazine’s latest assault on Zuckerberg by Virginia Heffernan in the November 2017 issue, Page 15 ff.

Those vilifying Anthony Bragalia continue to support Facebook, using it to further their opinions and “likes” ignoring that the social media site is as deceitful and corrupt as anything excommunicated by The Church and ethical/moral cognoscenti.

The time has come to let Anthony Bragalia offer his speculations, silly as some may be in my opinion and others intriguing in their details, to those who want to read and forgive the guy for his temporary insanity about the Roswell slides.

After all, many of us supposedly sane UFO buffs were also caught up in the brouhaha, pro and con.
