Afraid your noisy generator will attract trouble?
In the military we used to sound-proof ours:
¤ Dig a hole as deep as the generator is high
-be sure to leave enough space for access;
¤ Stack sandbags around this hole (about 4 layers)
-in areas with troublesome ground you can compensate with more;
¤ Place generator in hole. (That’s all!)
This channels the sound upwards, you have to walk up to the generator or fly above it to hear it. You can be literally standing about 10 feet next to it without noticing anything!

A buddy of mine had a natural gas generator. When the power goes off it automatically switches over. But you could hear it. I used to ask him what he thought would happen after about 3 weeks when he and his family was doing the Norman Rockwell turkey dinner scene with the generator running. When the power goes out those generators are all you can hear. Solar would be better.

The really important thing is that we all need to be prepared as much as possible at all times and we really should be willing to help someone out if they need it and can’t do it on their own, they maybe able to help you someday when you need it.
