It will also allow you enough of a distraction to grab a situational advantage.
Nice tip, and nice concise presentation .. thanks
dunno what planet you live on..
but every time i hear a car alarm go off.. absolutely noone pays any attention to it.. other than to complain about someones stupid alarm going off.
so… youve just alerted the burgler that you are aware of his presence.. and now hes ready for you.
that would be a situational disadvantage.
Well, in my neighborhood we do look after one another. If you hear a car alarm in the middle of the night it is cause for concern. I realize this might not work for every situation. Besides, it isn’t the fact that you are drawing or not drawing attention to your home. It is what is running through the intruder’s mind. Sure, a very hardened criminal may not be phased by this tactic, but according to many behavioral studies of criminals this does work. Nothing is 100%, life has many probabilities. This just increases your chances of survival or not even having to face a life or death situation.
cause for concern is it? so are you that concerned that you actually get up out of bed and run to your neighbours to see what is going on, or are you that concerned that you mutter to yourself something along the lines of.. gee, that sounds like someones car alarm going off.. i wonder whats wrong… before rolling over and going back to sleep..
did these behavioral studies involving car alarms that you didnt link to study what drug affected burglers do under such circumstances as well.. or were all the burglars they interviewed calm and logical with the same capacity for logical reasoned thought..
Hey, my advice to you is to not hit the panic button when you hear what could be an intruder. Case closed. You can do whatever you see fit to react to the situation because it is your house. As for me, I will keep my keys with my gun. If I hear something, I just might press the panic button. If I see someone who hasn’t heeded the warning and he is advancing towards me, I’ll shoot them. But hey, that is just what I might do.
ohhh… so you couldnt answer my questions as to how concerned youd be.. and still think you can get away with outlandish claims based on fictional behavioural studies.
nice that you think youre in a position to offer unsolicited advice, self described as…. “The BEST Way To Scare Off a Home Invader”
the BEST way? according to who? you?
i can think off a lot more scary scenarios – but who am i to tell people what they should do…
im surprised though, that in your all so caring neighbourhood where you all look after each other, that you dont suggest asking the intruder if theres anything you can do to assist him in his desperate situation.. invite him to sit down for a chat and a cup of tea..
or do all your burglars come from other neighbourhoods so they dont count?
despite your incorrectly titled best advice, and the big bold letters that state the best thing is not a gun, you still say what youd do is confront them with a gum..
good way to avoid confrontation i say.. not.
what if he has a bigger gun, he already knows youre onto him.. what do your studies suggest might happen in that situation?
what happens to people who dont own a car with a remote panic button anyway..
or even a car.. maybe if they just start screaming really really loud… in their best impersonation of a car alarm.. would that be the second best way to scare a burglar?
is that what youd do?
Dude, you are taking this far too seriously. Good night.
dewd, i assure you i dont take you seriously, i dont take any clowns seriously. but its nice to know you think others should also treat this as a joke as well.
good luck with your next dunce hat production, heres some advice… unless it really is the BEST anything… dont call it the BEST ..
say hi to your mom for me.
