Open discussion: Prepping children for prepping

A few weeks ago when I posted up the Safeguard Vest giveaway, I asked for your comments and constructive criticism or suggestions for our little blog. One of the suggestions that was brought forth that I really liked was: once in a while, open the place up for a round-table discussion, let people bounce ideas off each other. I figure we’ll give it a whirl here today, with a general overall topic to keep things loosely organized.

The topic is: How do we prep our children for prepping, and the possibility of a SHTF event?

I know this has been covered before - probably many times, as we are a family-heavy pack here at SHTFblog.com, but I thought it would be a great place to start.  Almost everyone has a thought on the subject; we have a lot of readers who just read via email or Feedburner: take a second to jump in and discuss.

I have a newborn son who is 18 days old as of today, so suggestions on keeping a fresh baby supplied and healthy would be welcome, however, don’t feel you have to limit ideas to that. Comments on how to tear today’s generation off their school-supplied iPads and away from glowing media boxes, or getting young’ins to be active in building their BOBs, or perhaps grown children just striking out on their own, getting started yet being prepared. Maybe you think decisions should be made for them so they just have to do what’s asked of them when the chips are down….we’d like to hear what you think on the subject. Just keep it respectful towards each other, relatively clean, and objective. If this works well, we’ll open the blog up like this on a more regular basis on topics that you guys suggest.
