Preps For The Election 2016 

Today a new president is elected. I’m really pulling for my candidate. Nobody. Since that isn’t going to happen there are some preps for the election that need to be shored up. 

Regardless of the outcome, some items are going to get more expensive. Or harder to find. As preppers, we should be prepping for this. Most of us have already got preps for the election. I like to prep right up to the last minute. 

Today I’ll talk about a few items and strategies for Election 2016. I honestly don’t think much will happen. Each president of my lifetime has left the country worse and closer to the collapse. And the fear mongers are saying this is end times. They said the same about Obama and Fukushima and every other thing. 

My point is that a collapse will occur. One day. No, I don’t think it will be overnight. Rome took between 100 to 300 years to fall. After an American collapse scholars in the Future will argue over how long it took the US to fall. 

Ammo

First up on the preps for the election is ammo. While I don’t actually believe Trump is pro-gun, Hilary is very outspokenly anti 2nd amendment. Her husband got an assault weapons ban in place while in office. And I’m sure she would love to get another. 

So if Hilary is elected ammo will become hard to find and expensive. Not because of anything on her part but because it is going to be bought up as soon as it comes in. Just like the ammo shortage after Sandy Hook. In fact .22 ammo 

In fact, .22 ammo has never recovered completely. Many places still have buying limits on it. I looked for some this morning there wasn’t any.

This is the one time I recommend odd calibers. They will be available during an ammo shortage. Since my day job is retail (well night job) I can see trends easily. And during the ammo shortage, I remember .17 HMR and 30-30 were both available the entire time. 

Gas

Gas is on the preps for the election list for the same reason. Many will be topping off their gas tanks for the election. Most preppers will be topping off their fuel storage too. 

Add this to the pipeline spill and fuel may be really hard to find. Here in Tn, I have seen several stations with empty pumps. Friends of mine have seen long lines at the pumps. 

That said I plan to be filling up with the election results. Nothing may happen. No reason to put it off, though. 

Riots?

I have seen a lot of stories that if Trump wins there will be riots. If Hilary wins Trump is refusing to admit the loss. So, either way, there could be riots. 

The election results won’t be in till late so many will at least be home from work. For us night workers it could be an issue. 

I don’t normally watch the news but it will be worth it today. As well as social media. If riots are breaking out then staying home from work would be wise. As well as getting away from any major cities. 

I do not recommend getting out on Tuesday if it’s not necessary. Especially no shopping trips to major metropolitan areas. Stay home and listen to our podcast on Surviving a riot. 

Conclusion

In conclusion to the preps for the election list please be safe. Like I have said. I don’t think anything will happen but I am making preps anyway. 

If you don’t take responsibility for your own safety you are at the mercy of others. I don’t like to be at anyone’s mercy. I don’t like to leave things to chance. 

Regardless of who wins this election, we are screwed. Nothing good can come from these idiots. Either is going to grow government. Both will erode our personal liberty. 

Focus on your preps. Grow a garden. Build a community. Learn a new skill.
