Your Great-Grandparents Didn’t Celebrate Christmas Like You Do

Artist: Edmund Restein

As we enjoy the Christmas season, many people are thinking about tradition. For us here in America, Christmas has become a time of family traditions, where we look back to a simpler time and rekindle memories of our youth and imagined memories of our grandparents’ youth, as well.

But the traditions we think of as “old traditions” aren’t as old as we like to think. The Christmas celebration, as we know it, is much different than Christmas of old. While many of the symbols we recognize as being part of Christmas existed in the beginning of the 1800s, they weren’t all widely used. It was through the years of the 1800s that our Christmas traditions, as we know them today, became widespread American traditions.

This was actually an important part of American history, as the country was very divided through the 1800s. Not only did we fight the Civil War during that time, but society as a whole was fragmented. Cultural groups were widely separated and geographic distance made it difficult for there to be any cohesion in a land as vast as the United States of America.

But communications also were growing during those years. In 1860, the Pony Express connected the East and West Coasts in a way that had not previously existed. The very next year the Pony Express was supplanted by the first intercontinental railway, allowing people to travel from coast to coast in three and a half days. All this happened at the same time as an ever-faster means of communication – the telegraph. The first telegraph lines to cross the continent were strung by the railway right of way.

This increased communication heightened the need for unifying the country, but it was war that found us first. On April 12, 1861, the first shots of the Civil War were fired. Four long years later, it ended, and the people of the United States started on the even longer road to healing. A part of that healing process was the unifying of our Christmas traditions.

Solely A European Holiday?

While Christmas existed as a holiday before this time, it wasn’t celebrated by all. Basically, it was a European holiday and so was only celebrated by those whose ancestors had come from Europe. Even then, not everyone joined in the celebration. The early Pilgrims didn’t celebrate Christmas, because they didn’t see it mentioned in the Bible. Of all of the European countries, Germany made the most of Christmas; many of our traditions can trace their roots to that country.

Those early Christmas celebrations weren’t the mass-marketed, highly commercialized festivities we have today. Rather, the Christmas celebration was something done in the family, in the church and in the neighborhood. Church was an important part of the celebration, with many people going to church both on Christmas Eve and then again on Christmas Day.

Gift-giving was always a part of Christmas — for those who could afford it. But the gifts that were given were largely homemade. Being personal, they were considered superior to anything store-bought. As with clothing, store-bought gifts were only for those who couldn’t do any better.

Eating a feast was an important part of celebrating Christmas, much as it is today. Cooking started weeks in advance, as mincemeat and plum pudding needed time to ferment. Christmas cookies and pies were common, as people ate the best of what they had. For those who could afford it, that meant beef or a ham.

Christmas became a very social time, with carolers going from door to door, singing. It would be impolite not to invite them in for a warm cup of wassail, turning every caroling event into a moving party, with time taken at each home to visit and wish the inhabitants a Merry Christmas.

Christmas Gets Commercialized

The commercialism of Christmas didn’t really start until after the Civil War and was stronger in New England — where much of the country’s wealth was concentrated — than it was in other parts of the country. Merchants responded to the needs of those celebrating the holidays first in providing factory-made ornaments for the home, then Christmas cards and finally the gifts that people gave.

Commercial gift-giving also lent rise to the idea of wrapping gifts, increasing the suspense and thereby the recipient’s joy. Large retailers began offering simple wrapping as a way of making those gifts more special, so that they could compete with homemade gifts. Eventually, the tradition of wrapping gifts became the norm and wrappings were developed specially for that purpose.

But even then, gift-giving was much more limited than what we have today. Our English and German ancestors brought to those stores the idea of Father Christmas, who eventually became our beloved Santa Claus. Children hung stockings for Father Christmas to fill, which at that time were real stockings.

Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867-1957), the creator of Little House on the Prairie, wrote of her Christmas treasures in one year’s stocking. She was delighted to find a shiny new tin cup, a peppermint candy, a heart-shaped cake and a brand new penny. In that time, that was a treasure trove of wealth on Christmas morning.

Christmas cards were a unique American invention, albeit by a German immigrant. Louis Prang (1824-1909) brought the idea to the forefront as a substitute for inexpensive gifts. Originally, these cards were small works of art, intended to adorn the home after the holidays were over. Prang even had art contests every year, seeking our original artwork to put on his cards.

Want To Know About The REAL Constitution And What The Founders Truly Intended?

Early Christmas trees weren’t bedecked with commercial ornaments. That didn’t come about until the 1870s and later. Instead, families would decorate their trees with what they had on hand. This often included the bounty they had gleaned from nature, as fruit and berries were the early ornaments, following after the Jewish tradition of decorating the Sukkah for the Feast of Tabernacles. Ribbons, cookies and hard candies were added to the fruit, nuts and berries, making those trees into a multi-colored joy.

The lights on the tree were originally candles. While dangerous, they were normally only lit on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The idea was started by Martin Luther, the same man who started the Reformation. He had been in the woods praying at night and saw the beauty of the starlight reflecting off the icicles on the pine trees. Wanting to share this with his children, he put candles on the family tree. When German Christians immigrated to the United States, they brought this tradition with them.

All of these traditions, most of which have survived to today, helped to bring the American people together, not as separate ethnic groups living in the same land, but as Americans. Celebrating a common holiday, with common traditions, helped to make us one common people.

Sadly, there are those who want to squash some of those traditions, taking Christmas, and especially Christ, out of the holiday. Yet it was the celebration of His birth which helped our country to heal and brought people together after the Civil War. The destruction of such a unifying celebration can do nothing to bring us closer together, but rather the opposite; it could become one more wedge, used to separate the American people into smaller and smaller groups, driving a wedge between us.

Let us continue to celebrate Christmas as what it is. Better yet, let us revive some of the old customs, sharing time with family, friends and neighbors. Let it become once more a unifying force, bringing the nation back together again.

Isn’t it funny that Germany made the most out of the Christmas celebration, (I think the Americans got the fir-tree custom directly from the germans, quite late, in the 1800′s?)

But I actually HATE Christmas. It is such an obviously malicious use and abuse of us, as people, for a bit of financial gain and a power-transfer, and obviously as everyone now knows, has nothing whatever to do with the messiah’s birth (the biblical messiah’s birth was never supposed to be celebrated). It is all about the Solar God’s baby saviour-son’s birth, and people do not seem to care.

People are so apathetic about truth and spiritual things. They would rather go along with the lies of evil leaders in whatever arena – including religion, which is weird because we are supposed to keep that kind of undercover according to the politically-correct way of doing things.

Religion is supposed to be somthing you believe in and not share with everyone else you meet, to be sensitive to not insulting others, right? And where is separation of church and state? Are all these people all believers in the Solar Deity’s baby saviour’s birth really?

Yes, that is what the bible says. Most of the earth will fall under his spell. Christmas is a huge hex on all of us, a spell was cast long ago, we have been initiated (all of us, including me) and we either die in the spell and that won’t bode well for our judgement in the resurrection, or we get out of it with the help of factual reality, history and – if you are a believer in the Scriptures, the commandments in there from (not ‘God’) but Yahuwah, and teachings of his Father AGAIN by the messiah, (not a Solar Deity saviour) Yahushua, will guide us – or should be guiding us – out of this Solar Deity Cult of Death.

Christ = a Solar Deity Name, really, it comes from Christos, and that denotes Solar Deity

Mas = Mass, = Death Rite
      A Death Ritual

Christ-Mas is a Death ritual or Death Rites. A Celebration of Death, by the Father of Lies, who appears to us as an Angel of Light, and his baby son is an incarnation of him, the Father IS the SON and the Son IS HIS FATHER in the Doctrine of the Triune Godhead (WHICH IS UNBIBLICAL).

So this Winter Solstice is not in any way related to your Biblical Messiah, Yahushua and it is dishonouring to both the Father of Yahushua (Yahuwah, Iahuah, IAUE) and the Messiah who carries his Father’s name in his, Yahu, IAUE, Yahuah, that we are saying we are doing this ‘in honour of him’ because it is not an honour to our Creators at all.

Unless you really believe that Satan was your creator. I do not. So I cannot celebrate it, and actually shiver when I see the symbols of Satan all over our streets right now.

Please read up on the history and read your Bibles. It is plain that this is an abomination and the commandment to ‘come out of her, my people, that ye partake not of her sins, that we receive not of her plagues’ may save your lives.

If we believe the scriptures are true at all, then try to go by what they say. We cannot have it both ways, it is against that, calling it evil and hypocritical to lie to ourselves. Let’s just try to do right by our Creators for once in our history.

We have got nothing to lose and everything to gain. We are in the last stages of this earth, WWIII is happening as we speak in its infancy anyway, and everything is crumbling as foretold. Our Creators are not happy with our choices of religion, ways and customs. Or our willful ignorant behaviour regarding what the Bible repeatedly tells us not to do (we do that!) and what TO DO (we never do that!).

Let’s just get it right … its rather late.

Pentacles on the Christmas tree are no less symbolic of Satan than that Satanist’s display in Boca Raton of an encircled Hexagram. Crosses are every bit as demonic and attract the spirits of destruction, claims to the contrary notwithstanding, as the Liar knows how to get people to believe complete bull if he does it up right, and he has, with the cross, since time immemorial, as history attests, the cross was used by the Solar Deity’s priesthood long before Yahushua was even conceived.

It is the symbol of Tammuz, Bacchus, Teitan, all the Christs that are forbidden to worship in the Scriptures, we are explicity commanded not to do those things like those people were doing in Egypt, in Persia, in Canaan, and Abraham came OUT of SUMER (Ur of the Chaldees) where they WERE WORSHIPPING another Spirit using those rites with those symbols and that doctrine.

Please learn your Satanism and its doctrines and symbols, but first or alongside that, please read your Scriptures, and please use a King James or Geneva or Tyndale bible, or better yet, all three.

Come Out Of Her, My People, by C. J. Koster, South Africa will help a lot.
And Alexander Hislop’s ‘the Two Babylons, will fill in a lot of blanks and you’ll be forever thankful that man did so much research and those archeologists did those things with their energy and lives; you will all be extremely glad you read it.

Then, you can hate the lies we have been fed all our lives. But the giving up of Christmas and Easter and Halloween is only a small thing compared to all you will gain, in every way. You will learn about your True Creator-Father and His Son, your True Actual Saviour, The Hebrew Messiah: Yahshua –

and you will love Them MORE. Much More than you ever could think possible before, when you were in the religion of the false saviour-figure and false God of the Solar/Astral/Planetary Old Religion.

Thank you and May IAUE bless you all with your endeavor to learn of Him, His ways, His commands and instructions, and plans for you and your loved ones. He is the One Who Loved US First, before They made us. Or they both made us. Two Beings made us together, father and son.

      goodnight.

      • Wretched Infidel

Sorry, last night I had to get out of here fast so I couldn’t make any corrections. I knew the last 4 sentences were coming out wrong and are very confusing, … but had to let everything go as it was.

This is what I meant to type: He (IAUE, the Father) loved us First (before you and me, etc of course, but also since Yahushua is called the first-born of all creation, I think that is clear that IAUE created the Son or Spirit/Messiah/Word, maybe. Or I could be wrong, Idk for sure about that. Maybe I meant ‘THEY’ loved us first, which would be true anyway, …. . Anyway, either way is true, but they are not the same Being. They are in total agreement, two Beings, in complete agreement. That is very clear. He is not being absolutely literal when he says (our literal, that is) ‘if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.’ I would think with everything else that he said about himself and the Father being Two Beings in total agreement, that it would be understood we are to take that word (seen) in quotation marks, ‘seen’ as in ‘If you have seen me, you have ‘seen’ the Father’ because he never contradicts himself, it is our lack of undetstanding and from Genesis to Rev, the Two are in complete unity of mission and Spirit – but Two Separate individual (literally indiividual, since the Son The Word of Yah ALWAYS LOVED the Father, perfect love, which manifests as PERFECT COMMUNION, NO SEPARATION, and complete OBEDIENCE. For he knows his Father (our Father too) is completely Benign, infinitely merciful and right and all-knowing. That they share the same Spirit of life and love, truth, and creation, and that they are in the same ‘image’ with one another, should be understood, imo, by us by now; in these particulars we know what he means when he said that ‘if ye have seen me, ye have seen the Father’ for he doesn’t contradict anything his Father ever said, and it is said earlier that ‘no one hath seen the Father’ only his hindermost or back, never the face or front countenance (it is too sacred, too powerful, for us to look upon). But the Word, who does the Father’s will without doubt or disagreement, is the Father’s extension of Himself and means of getting his plan done via ‘My Strong Right Arm’ which Yahushua is called by Him; and ‘My Right-Hand Son’ (‘BenYahmin’, ‘Benjamin’) comes from the idea that a faithful son (this prototype of the Messiah) is one that obeys a righteous father’s instructions and helps his father, carrying out his righteous commands in loyal agreement to get a thing done in the way it is deemed possible by that wise father. Same phraseology for ‘the Son who sitteth at My Right Hand’ … right denoting the hand that the Father uses to do his righteous plans – maybe for our minds to comprehend as an extension of his mind to his utterly skilled, perfectly coordinated ‘HAND’: instantaneous (usually even for us is the RIGHT hand) cooperation and communication it is speaking of, all at once. The Father thinks it, and the son Yahushua, reads the mind, the thoughts are manifested into reality by the son because he is ‘of’ and ‘from’ the Father, of his own accord, he agreed with the Father words unsaid, from THE BEGINNING. (after he was created? or was he always created with the Father? idk… ‘the firstborn of all the creation may be referring just? to the birth of the Messiah in timeless ‘timetable’ of Yahuah and Yahushua ? idk.

BenYamin = Son of My Right Hand, or Right-Hand Son
He does his Father’s will as a man’s right hand does what he thinks to do, instantaneously.

Right now, as we have it all, they both were together in the beginning. But what beginning? Of this age, when they created man in their image? or, way back before any ages began? it is inconsequential to us, I guess, just wondering and curious about some things. )

anyway, it is a lot to think about, anyone have any ideas please help us out, share I would appreciate it…

Whether IAUE (Yahuah) created Yahushua and then they created everything together after that, or – if Yahushua was always created, just like IAUE – it is unclear to us now as we have the scritpures. We will learn and know one day, if we go to the good place. All we know is they are not identical and not ‘one
Being’ but they are two individuals in total agreement and communion and purpose – of one Spirit and Minds in agreement. Like a husband and wife should be ‘one flesh’ in one accord, to be rightly living in marriage. ‘For Two cannot walk together less then be in agreement.’ Like two oxen in one yoke, they must cooperate fully, or stress happens and effort is wasted and it is not comfortable. None of that should happen in a marriage of two people, that is why we were told not to be unequaly yoked…it is not a true ‘marriage’ as meant to be.

And nothing they do is ever contested by the son, for he KNOWS his father, and knows his Father is Right, and loves Him without measure. He may wish things were different when it comes to us, (humans) but our free will (which gives Them pain often) and the Messiah wept, and IaUe gets angry, furious, and abjectly sorrowful and lamented that he ever made us at least once. But the son knows IAUE the Father is correct and all-wise, all-knowing. So he does it, whatever needs to be done, per his Father, IAUE of Hosts.

They are different Beings, We are to pray only to IAUE per the Son’s teachings ‘Pray only to the Father, in my name.’ (Which is the Father’s name in his, Yah is in there). Yahushua or Yahshua.

        Yah is not in Jesus.

But they love us, loved us before the foundation of the earth it is said ‘I knew you’ (that is IAUE). I wonder if the Word was made at that point? That is a question I still have not found the answer to, among so many.

Thank you for trying to read thru all this … Thank you for your most interesting post, about the customs and beliefs surrounding Christmas.

May IAUE bless you for seeking truth, and may the blood of the Righteous Son Messiah Yahushua cover the heads of all that would want Them to protect us in these days of tribulation.

Please know your Creators are not who we are taught by men to be; They are completely different, but they are right there, in our Bibles, we can check it all out for ourselves which was what They continually repeated for us to do.

This life is a miraculous mysterious thing. If we knew just more about the truth, we would love it more.
We don’t know our Creators, or haven’t until now, just beginning. ‘We see thru a glass darkly: But then, face to face!’ . May IAUE help us to do what we need to and know what He wants us to know, before we need to know it. Thank you Father Yahuah please help us all in Yahshua’s name we pray

        Thank you
