BESSEMER, Ala. -(Ammoland.com)- The family of legendary small-arms expert, author and founder of what would later become the Gunsite Training Center, U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. John Dean “Jeff” Cooper (1920-2006) will be in the Steyr booth (#10246) during the SHOT Show to meet and greet old friends and new. Industry icons in their own rights, wife Janelle and daughter Lindy Cooper Wisdom will be in the Steyr booth Jan. 17, 18 and 19.

The Cooper ladies will be bringing along a very special Scout rifle that was presented to Col. Cooper during the initial introduction of the Steyr Scout at the 1998 SHOT Show.

This rifle was presented to the Colonel by the president of Steyr and by the engineer who collaborated with Col. Cooper to design it over a course of nearly a decade. This rarely seen, one-of-a-kind Scout was hand painted as a very patriotic tribute to the man behind the rifle.

The stainless rifle’s black stock is painted with the American and Austrian flags, the Jeff Cooper “JC” crest, an eagle and a dramatic scene that commemorates Jeff and Janelle’s love for the Southwest, particularly their adopted state of Arizona.

Janelle and Lindy will be available in the Steyr Booth each day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to meet and greet attendees.

Show attendees are welcome to bring their Col. Cooper memorabilia and books, including Lindy’s excellent tribute, Jeff Cooper: The Soul And The Spirit: My Father’s Story to be autographed.

“We are all looking forward to spending time with fans of my father, and the good people of Steyr,” said Lindy, who runs the non-profit Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation, which provides scholarships for firearms training in the Cooper tradition as well as preserving his works and collections. “Mom and I cannot wait to bring the most legendary Scout rifle back to where it was first celebrated 19 years ago. It will be wonderful to see and hear people’s reactions to such a beautiful work of art.”
