FREDERICK, Md. -(Ammoland.com)- Heritage Training and Shooting Center, a full-service personal protection training center, shooting range and firearms retail store that focuses on safety and education, announced today the launch of Heritage Firearm Training Academy.

The Academy is a unique defensive training program that provides people of all experience levels the skills necessary for responsible, safe and effective use of firearms.

The program offers students a unique opportunity to experience a defensive training program similar to qualification courses for law enforcement professionals.

The curriculum, which was created in-house by the team’s expert training staff who have years of hands-on military and law enforcement experience, is separated into four Defense Units that cater to students of all skill levels.

Students can advance through each Defense Unit at their own pace. The progressive curriculum starts with basic firearm fundamentals & crime prevention and advances to live fire exercises & advanced firearm techniques.

“The introduction of the Heritage Firearm Training Academy further underscores our commitment to providing our clients with top-notch training opportunities unlike any other. Students who enroll in these courses will experience a one-of-a-kind opportunity to train like a professional and learn life-saving defensive techniques,” commented Jim LaFleur, President of Heritage Training and Shooting Center. “The curriculum was built from the ground up by our team of expert trainers and is based on our years of combined hands-on military and law enforcement experience. We could not be more proud to roll this out and are looking forward to continuing to reinforce our stellar reputation as a leading authority on firearm safety and training.”

Defensive Units include:

  • Defense Unit 1: Core Fundamentals – This Unit offers nine courses focused on essential firearm safety and handling procedures. From “Defense is Personal,” our trademark personal defense course, to Basic Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle courses, to Firearm Cleaning, these courses are focused on building a core understanding of responsible, safe and effective use of firearms.
  • Defense Unit 2: Defense Techniques – The courses in this Unit build on firearm fundamentals and offer intermediate firearm training. Defense Unit 2 courses include Low Light Techniques, Firearm Malfunction, and Defensive Firearm Tactics. It also includes two of our most popular courses, Maryland HQL and Utah CFP, as well as their Law add-ons.
  • Defense Unit 3: Advanced Defense Techniques – This Unit offers courses that enhance existing firearm knowledge and focus on defensive tactics for personal protection in various scenarios. Courses include Drawing from a Holster, Barricade Exercises, Decision Making for Personal Protection, and Defensive Concealed Carry.
