NASHVILLE, Tenn. -(Ammoland.com)- For their dedication to conservation and the preservation of our hunting heritage, David and Judy Vaughan earned national awards from the National Wild Turkey Federation.
The Vaughans, of Alton, Virginia, each received one of the five Roger M. Latham Sportsman Wild Turkey Service Awards at the 41st annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show in Nashville.
“It’s a real honor to receive this award and to be recognized for the volunteer work we do for the NWTF in our state and our chapter,” Judy Vaughan said. “This love that we have for the NWTF has given us a chance to make new friendships all over the USA.”
Roger M. Latham Sportsman Wild Turkey Service Awards are given to NWTF members who are not employed as professional wildlife managers, but have made significant contributions to wild turkey conservation.
The NWTF determined this year’s award winners based on how their work strengthens the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative. The Vaughans have spent more than 15 years volunteering with the NWTF.
They have served in positions in their local chapter as well as their state chapter with David even filling in as acting regional director when the eastern Virginia position was open. David also is a Diamond Life Member of the NWTF.
“Whatever is asked of the Vaughans, they deliver. And they deliver in a big way,” said George Thornton, NWTF CEO. “Side by side, this husband and wife have dedicated years to helping Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.”
