Some Truth About Medicare before the Obama Lies Gain Traction

“You’re going to hand out vouchers to seniors . . . you’re going to hand one to my father who is 83, who is a lung cancer survivor and has far different medical needs than his former White House staffing son does at 41.”  – Robert Gibbs, former Obama Press Secretary. That’s a lie. Under Ryan’s plan there were be no changes for anyone over 55 years of age which, the last time I checked, 83 is older than 55.

“If Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan became president and vice president of the United States, they would be able to end the Medicare guarantee, shred the health care safety net that Medicare has provided for more than 50 years, and turn Medicare into a voucher program — leaving seniors really out in the cold because as health care costs grow larger than the voucher provides, seniors wouldn’t have enough money to cover their health care costs.” - Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chairwoman of the Democrat National Committee. That’s a lie. Again, there would be no changes to anyone over 55 and those under 55 would have a choice to stay in the current program of move to a voucher program.

There is one change however that is significant, Ryan’s plan works to make Medicare solvent beyond the next election cycle. Here it is in Ryan’s own words.

What could be clearer than no changes if you are over 55? We are not talking  about some nuanced phrase on page 2,321 of ObamaCare. Nothing changes if you are over 55, yet Gibbs and Wasserman Schultz can look straight into the camera and lie to the American people and repeat it as often as possible so that, as Lenin and Goebbels said, it will become the truth. I don’t know about you, but I think that is despicable. But it is the status quo from the Democrats. No budget, no plan, personal attacks, and bold face lies.

Like Paul Ryan, I am eager to have this debate. But rest assured we will not sit back and let the left repeat the lies unchallenged long enough so that it becomes the truth, no matter how much the mainstream media helps them. We can get the truth out there.
