Hanover Tax Money for New Squirrels Stadium? Not NO but HAWK NO!

Monday, October 17, 2016 17:01
% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

My daughter who goes to Hanover High School says the nice way to say “Hell No” is “Hawk No!” (Hanover HS’s mascots are the Hawks) so let me take the word from her and say:  HAWK NO to the plan for ANY Hanover tax money for the new Squirrels stadium.  Here is the Richmond Times-Dispatch article and here are the worrisome paragraphs:

The announcement was silent on how much money Richmond and other surrounding localities might contribute to the effort. However it cites “ongoing discussions among parties that may include the Commonwealth of Virginia, the city of Richmond and other localities, private developers and investors, among others.”

Multiple sources said it’s anticipated that both the city and Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties will contribute, but precisely how much has not yet been determined.

Well, maybe Hanover taxpayers ought to go to the next BOCS meeting (It is October 28, 2016 at 6 pm) and let their elected representatives know that when it comes to taxpayers’ money for a new stadium the answer is:  HAWK NO!  I’ll post on the blog if I can make it.  If so I plan to speak at citizen’s time.
