I walked out of the Hanover Board of County Supervisors meeting tonight after about five minutes of a not too exciting presentation by a county department head. I think what drove me out was the public-private partnership between Dominion and Hanover County to set up an incubator for small business – did not understand all the details but I wonder what free-market principle this supports. But assuming this was a partnership involving taxpayers’ money I say no. If Dominion is willing to do the incubator – let them do it. Not a function of taxpayer money. What the BOCS needs is a libertarian voice. But the winner should envy the loser of a board race – they don’t have to listen to dull speeches at meetings!
It is very difficult to get to a 6 pm meeting from downtown Richmond and I recommend they change it or allow citizen’s time at say 7 pm – a needed break from presentations by county officials!
I am sorry not to be there. I was hoping 25 or 50 folks might have been there to encourage me. Maybe next month we’ll do better…
