In Judging Men

(Before It's News)

“In judging men and things, ethics go before dogma, politics or nationality”

Lord Acton

“What difference does it make?”

Hillary Clinton

“Kiss my a**”

Donald Trump

In Bartlett’s I found the first quoted ascription above attributed to John Emerich Edward Dalberg-Acton, 1st Baron Acton: Lord Acton. The other two are attributes of the two presidential candidates, one of whom will be the next president. Though we haven’t seen republic justice in decades as stated indirectly by Lord Acton to Robert E. Lee in the 19th century it is possible, I suppose, that one of them could be taking the oath of office in an orange jumpsuit. The other will probably be holding a nine-iron taking the oath or not.

Praise the Lord! Our democracy done swelled up and brought us home. Finally, perhaps, a president we might be able to arrest. Many have slipped through our grasp: Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton (The first black president–Now that’s what he said. Don’t blame me). If HRC doesn’t slip through the FBI email dragnet we might have a Virginia president for the first time in almost 200 years. And we then would be arresting, I suppose, the third black president. The Clintons have never said they have an interracial marriage, so I just presumed. The second one has been too slippery–probably going to get away.

Of course, the constitution only states removal for conviction of high crimes (are there any other kind for the Clinton crime family) and misdemeanors. But it isn’t clear if those are crimes committed in office or before taking office. Oh, well, she’ll commit some crime even after being sworn in, jump suit or not. Hell, criminal activity to the Clintons is like dope. The Clintons go into withdrawal if they can’t do something illegal. It’ll just be a matter of time. Too bad The Rock is shut down. The Clinton’s have muchos fans in San Francisco.

Corruption in politics isn’t a nativity of the 20th century, in fact it has been with us since Eden. But it has been given a detonation with the Clintons not seen since the era of prohibition and more recently the drug crimes and cartels related to a contemporary prohibition.

In the unlikely event Mr. New Yorker is elected he will probably follow in the footsteps of the Bush preppies or Not-So-Sure-Shot Dick Cheney, and wave the flag and sing God Bless America for those who can’t remember who wrote it in the name of Whom. But his law breaking, like the Bushes’ and Cheney’s will strictly be a corruption of organic law and not with any specific transgressions written thereunder regarding larceny–the Clinton specialty. The difference being, that Lord Acton realized something that has gone amiss in the federal structure he understood. That something is the noticeable absence of understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the president which are not those of a totalitarian leader. They are enumerated and specific in a federal constitution. He hasn’t the authority to do this and that, and whatever he thinks some number of voters want, who are necessary to get him over the top.

Perhaps one day we will get the fourth black president; someone like Walter Williams or Thomas Sowell. Then we might see the true nature of the organic law of the republic. And then, from the grave both Acton and Lee will smile.
