Roanoke College just published a poll that they claim has Clinton up by 7 points over Donald Trump.
I remember how awful their results were in 2012 with their Virginia Polls. A quick check of Real Clear Politics for the 2012 polls shows that Roanoke College was by far the worst poll in Virginia in the 2012 election cycle.
Obama won Virginia by 4% in 2012. Roanoke College’s final poll had Romney up by 5 points – a 9 point miss. By far the worst Virginia poll. Washington Post and PPP hit it dead on in their final poll.
Ind in 2014, Roanoke College took another swing and a big miss in the Virginia Senate Race between Ed Gillespie and Mark Warner. That one fooled all of the polls, but again, Roanoke College was the worse. Again, by a lot! The race was won by Mark Warner by less than 1%. Roanoke College had Warner winning by 12%. And their two previous polls had Warner up by 20% and 25%. Christopher Newport has bragging rights on that race. But they missed it by 6 points.
Sorry Roanoke College. Your past history of polling has not impressed me.
