Sources confirm that the gunman is in custody after shooting nine people and killing five.
An airport spokesman said that the center of the incident was in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2. It does not appear that the shooter breached the TSA-secured area of the airport.
Video from the airport Friday afternoon showed hundreds of passengers corralled together on the tarmac with emergency vehicles parked outside the terminal with lights flashing.
Flights are still going in and out of the airport and the FAA says that impact on flights are ‘minimal’.
However, with roads shut down around the airport, getting to the airport will be difficult for some passengrs.

Gov. Rick Scott is traveling to Ft. Lauderdale to be briefed on the situation.
With President Obama’s days in the White House coming to a close, he stresses that one of his biggest regrets is failing to secure gun control. While in his native Chicago, whose gun control laws are among the strictest in the nation, gun murder rates reached a high last year by almost doubling 2015. Chicago had 746 murders in 2016, proving that tighter gun control laws are not the answer.
