Let California be California; let red state America be red state America.

And as she wants to “Let France Be France,” and leave the EU, as Brits did with Brexit, a movement is afoot in California to secede from the United States and form a separate nation.

California seceding sounds like a cause that could bring San Francisco Democrats into a grand alliance with Breitbart.

A new federalism — a devolution of power and resources away from Washington and back to states, cities, towns and citizens, to let them resolve their problems their own way and according to their own principles — may be the price of retention of the American Union.

Let California be California; let red state America be red state America.

‘Let California be California‘ is what the Leftists will demand.  That is fair enough, as I am a firm believer in the 9th and 10th.

Where the practical and realistic problems arise is with ‘…let red state America be red state America.’

Because the Leftists want their cake and to eat it too – and your cake, and they want you to buy it and bake it and serve it, and they will insist that you decorate it as they demand, even if that means decorations that offend your red state values.  They will demand autonomy for themselves, while demanding with even more fervor to control ‘red state America‘.  It is simply their nature.  It is our current reality, and they will not surrender what they consider to be the morally correct position of their greater consciousness.

The biggest flaw with the ‘let them have California’ concept is that the Leftists who like living in Idaho will not leave for California.  (Hell, most of them came here FROM California). These Leftists living in red states will demand their Leftist values be not only respected, but held inviolate, regardless of how that makes ‘red staters’ feel.

There will be no peaceful parting of the ways.  To even think it possible is to ignore all of Human history.
