President Trump’s HHS

One of the biggest accomplishments of President Trump’s first year in office was staffing the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) with individuals who respect the Constitution. We have seen the evidence of this in many ways, especially with the announcement this year of the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division under the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). Ironically, those who have been hired in these offices have already faced intense criticism for their religious and moral beliefs. That has not stopped them from working hard to enforce the rule of law, something that the Obama Administration tried their best to undermine.

Since launching the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division, HHS has received over 300 complaints about employers forcing individuals to violate their beliefs in just one month’s time. This would cover situations such as coerced participation in abortions or forcing someone to administer a medicine or vaccination that they believe is contrary to their morals. To compare that to the Obama Administration, in November 2016, HHS only received 34 complaints. Even at such a low number, the law was never enforced previously in these situations nor were these cases properly investigated.

With Obama’s HHS on such a long leash, they were able to create policies that have nothing to do with public health. Obama used HHS as a social engineering program by trying to redefine sex discrimination, opening bathrooms up to both genders, promoting comprehensive sex education, and encouraging a transgender lifestyle, just to name a few. The White House has made great strides in rolling back these types of policies that HHS had no business meddling in.
