US Committing Suicide With Refugee Policy [Picture]

Supporters who want the US to let in more Syrian refugees point to the Vietenam refugees, whom the US let in.  What they ignore is the change in times, the difference between that era and this era of global terrorism.  

Opponents of more strict vetting of Syrian refugees say it already takes 2 years for such a refugee to get in the US.  They say that is already inhumane; but, on the other hand, does the US want to commit suicide by allowing every wannabe to get into this  countwry just because he wants to.  That would be like opening the door in the middle of the jungle to let all of the snakes, predators and dangerous creatures in the wild to come in your house and then get confused when you get bit or earen.

Republican opponents of letting Syrian refugees into the US have seized on comments by Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson this fall, in which he essentially admitted that the US couldn’t know everything about a Syrian refugee when he or she first applied. “It is true that we are not going to know a whole lot about a lot of the Syrians that come forth in this process, just given the nature of the situation,” Johnson said.

This has been taken as evidence that the US is letting Syrians enter America without knowing anything about them. What it really is, instead, is an explanation for why it takes two years for US officials to approve a refugee’s application.
