Manchester Bombing Not Cities First Brush With Terrorism

Following the bombing in Manchester, England on Monday night, many security analysts are wondering why the city was targeted instead of London. But unknown to these analysts, is the fact that the City of Manchester has previously had major brushes with Islamic extremism.

(VERO BEACH, FL) On May 10th 2000, prior to 9/11 and the U.S.-led invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, Manchester Metropolitan Police raided the home of Libyan born suspected terrorist Nazih al Wadith, also known as Anas al-Libi, and recovered what is now being referred to as the Al Qaeda Handbook, or Manchester Documents. 

After analysis and translation by the FBI, U.S. officials stated that the document served as a manual for Islamic jihadists on how to wage war on infidels, and was written by Osama bin Laden’s terror group, Al Qaeda. 

According to the book “Terror at Beslan: A Russian Tragedy with Lessons for America’s Schools”, authored by John Giduck, a lawyer and PhD graduate from King’s College in London, the likely author was Ali A. Mohammed, who also used the alias Ali Abu-al-Saud Mustafa.

Ali Mohammed, aka Abu-al-Saud Mustafa, was a former Egyptian army major who was thrown out of the military for his radical beliefs, but surprisingly this did not deter his career.
