Rainy winter days are ideal for people watching over a cup of coffee and medialunas behind the big windows of a historic city café. Café La Academia fits the bill to a T and is not only charming for its woody tango feel and long and elegant bar but also for its billiard tables. The clacking of the wooden balls makes for a cozy soundtrack, more so with the added sound of falling rain.

The café, which is only a few blocks away from the Obelisco, came to life in the thirties right around the time when the famous city landmark was constructed. It has since been the stage of many a political and cultural discussion by local intellectuals, theatre producers, cast and crew, and other characters of the local bohemian scene.

La Academia is open every day 24 hours a day and is located on Av. Callao 368.
