"It's A Miracle"-- 2 Girls Die In SF Plane Crash--182 People Survived

Two Chinese girls died, but survivors are greatful they lived. Survivors include a man who was paralyzed in the crash and dozens who walked away with road rash.

CNN reports that

182 people were hospitalized and 123 others walked away from Saturday’s crash landing of a Boeing 777. The number who emerged unscathed prompted the city’s fire chief to describe it as “nothing short of a miracle.”

A day after Asiana Airlines Flight 214 slammed onto the edge of a runway, severing its tail, spun across the airport and caught fire, the death toll has remained unchanged. Two 16-year-old girls died in the crash.

Investigators from the FAA  have already shipped the plane’s black box to Washington, DC. They are hoping that the black box information will shed light on why the plane crashed.

Did sequestration have a role?

Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Deborah Hersman, head of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), said her team were looking into the role that the shutdown of a key navigational aid may have played in the crash. She said the glide slope – a ground-based aid that helps pilots stay on course while landing – had not been used since June. MOREHERE
