Wonderful Washington DC

One of my favourite places to photograph in the US is Washington DC, for several reasons.

The US Capitol at Christmas

The beautiful art and architecture that adorns Washington’s National Mall is certainly one of the reasons and add to the mix some of the world’s best museums, monuments galore, and even the people are incredibly interesting since there are diplomats from around the globe living in and around the DC area. Much of the very best of what Washington DC has to offer is in the National Mall area which stretches from the foot of the U.S. Capitol past the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial and over to the Jefferson Memorial. The National Mall celebrates America’s rich history and the Trust for the National Mall is now holding a fun photo contest looking for your favourite photographic memories from the National Mall.

There are so many wonderful locations for all kinds of photos and memories at the National Mall. Here are just a few memories you can create on your next visit to the Mall:

  • Walking around the Tidal Basin to the Jefferson Memorial
  • Finding names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall
  • Watching a concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
  • Taking in the view at the top of the Washington Monument
  • Getting a tour of the Library of Congress
  • Visiting any of the awesome museums like the Smithsonian or the Air and Space Museum

I’m looking forward to seeing your entries!

The #MyMallMemories Photo Contest is being run by The Trust for the National Mall which is the official non-profit partner of the National Park Service dedicated to restoring and improving the National Mall. Contest runs now through August 23rd, 2013.
