Beautiful Places With No Cars

Can you imagine living in a place that was free of cars and a lot of traffic? These places do exist and the big appeal to visiting a place with no cars is that there is less noise and practically no pollution as well as an environment that is often more relaxed. Throughout the world there are quite a few beautiful place that have no cars, but a lot of things to see

Venice, Italy
It would be hard to explore Venice in quite the same way if cars were allowed. Sure you will see some scooters and bikes in the city, but most people walk around the narrow streets. Because of the many canals here, gondolas are also a popular way to get from one destination to the other.

Ko Phi Phi, Thailand
Ko Phi Phi is located near Phuket Island. Since there are no cars or really any roads, travelers really feel as if they are on vacation. There’s a lot to do here especially for those that are into water sports or archaeology. A favorite activity is going to Tonsai Pier and watching the longtail boats.

Hydra, Greece
Hydra is a little slice of paradise. There are no wheeled vehicles allowed at all, even scooters. Individuals get around by utilizing their own feet or riding on a donkey. There’s so much to do in walking distance that there’s no need for a car anyways. The beautiful hiking paths, located on the coast, reveal stunning waters all around.

Kadavu, Fiji
This unspoiled island is a great place to get away from many modern conveniences. Not only are cars not allowed, but there are no televisions, cellular phone service or internet. However, there’s still plenty to do like kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling and hanging out on the beach. However, the island does has strict rules on dress and no hats or sunglasses can be worn on top of the head if going to a church or village and women must keep their knees and shoulders covered.

Krapanj, Croatia
Not only are there no cars here, but there is practically no nightlife either. Krapanji is a sought after destination for families looking for a laidback, kid friendly vacation spot. There is only one hotel on the island, but plenty of apartments for rent. The most popular thing to do here is to visit the beach, which is beautiful with white pebbles and clear water.

Bald Head Island, North Carolina
This is one of the most popular vacation spots on the east coast. There are many beaches as wells a golf course located right by the sea. Visitors can get around by bike or golf cart.

Mackinac Island, Michigan
Motorized vehicles have been banned since 1898 on Mackinac Island. One of the most popular ways to get around is by a horse-drawn carriage. Popular activities include exploring the many different aspects of nature or viewing some of the historical buildings in the area. It’s also a great place to partake in the many watersports available.

Zermatt, Switzerland
Zermant is famous for the Matterhorn which can be easily viewed because there’s no air pollution that is often caused by cars. This charming little town is located just below some of the highest peaks in Switzerland. Many travelers like to visit the area in the winter when they can ski and participate in winter sports.

Wouldn’t it be great to go on vacation and not have to worry about driving around and spending money on gas? These destinations are great if you want to truly relax and enjoy some time walking around and exploring the outdoors.
