If you search for restaurants in Hoi An – one restaurant inevitably pops up on the top – Morning Glory. This popular restaurant is owned by the famous Ms Vy who now runs a small F&B empire in Hoi An.
The restaurant occupies an old 2-storey house along Nguyen Thai Hoc Street – one of the main streetsin Hoi An. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and much of the original structure (as far as I can see) is preserved. On the ground floor as you enter is a small open kitchen preparing some of the dishes. This is a clever touch which give diners a glimpse into the preparation process.
The restaurant is so popular that it is packed every night. We were lucky to get a table and quickly ordered our dishes as we were famished from our walk from the hotel to the town. The food at Morning Glory is sensational. The ingredients are very flesh – and the preparation expertly done. It is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Hoi An. Everything we ordered was good. The standout dish was the stuffed squids – the squids were nicely caramelized outside yet still tender, and the filling of minced pork and herbs really delicious. Another great dish was the crispy pork with preserved vegetables, and the stir fried morning glory was top notch.
While the prices at Morning Glory are high by Vietnam standards, it more than makes up for it with the fresh ingredients and great cooking. A must visit in Hoi An.
