The Creepiest Places To Visit
The Creepiest Places To Visit
Do you like ghosts and being scared? Then you should take a trip that combines these two things. The following places are very creepy and can give you quite the fright.
The Baker Hotel In Mineral Wells, Texas
Once a busy hotel back in the 1920s and 1930s, this hotel slowly started to go downhill because of financial troubles. In 1972 it finally had to close it’s doors. It was put on the National Register of Historic Places back in 1982 and there are plans to restore it once funding is obtained. Even before this hotel closed, there were many ghost sightings. These includes a ghostly woman that was seen walking around on the seventh floor, disembodied figures and sounds of a woman walking around in high heels even though there was no one there.
Dogpath USA In Marble Falls, Arkansas
First opened in 1968, this theme park once was successful, but had to close down in 1993 due impart to the construction of a sister park that failed. The theme park is now just really creepy to look at. It’s filled with abandoned rides that are showing their age due to wear from weather and time.
The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum In Weston, West Virginia
In operation from 1864 to 1994, this hospital often had tight quarters and unsanitary conditions. It wasn’t uncommon for patients to be locked in cages if they weren’t able to behave themselves. This building is supposedly extremely haunted and for a mere $100, brave participants can choose to go on an overnight ghost tour at the lunatic asylum.
Old Charleston City Jail In Charleston, South Carolina
Used to house inmates from 1802 to 1939, this jail is one of the creepiest places out there. Many claim that it is haunted with the spirits of previous inmates. One of them being the first female serial killer to be publically executed in the United States, Lavinia Fisher. Visitors have heard voices (even though rooms are empty), doors slamming and objects moving around. It’s also not uncommon to hear chains rattling around. If you are feeling brave you can take a Haunted Jail Tour.
The Mutter Museum In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
While not haunted, this museum is still creepy. It contains two floors filled with preserved human specimens and medical tools. There are things like skulls, full skeletons and even a 9 foot colon. This museum isn’t for those with a weak stomach. If you plan on visiting this museum, we don’t recommend eating lunch beforehand.
