Is It Safe To Travel To Hawaii

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

You probably have heard by now about the devastation that is occurring in parts of Hawaii thanks to Kilauea’s volcanic eruption. Residents have been evacuated and national parks in the area have been closed because of the massive amounts of lava. If you were thinking about going to Hawaii you may be tempted to put off your trip as you just aren’t sure whether or not it is safe to go. This is what you need to know about the safety of traveling to Hawaii right now.

The Location
Because of the vast amount of news coverage that this volcanic activity has seen many travelers have the misconception that the entire island of Hawaii is in a lot of danger. In reality the area that is dealing with this massive amount of lava is located in a remote part of the island. To put it into perspective, the volcanic activity is taking place about 200 miles away from Oahu and 100 miles away from Kona. What this means is that the majority of tourists in Hawaii would not be going any near this area during their vacation anyways so closing this part of the island has had no effect on them. Those who are affected by it tend to be the locals and not the tourists.

Health Concerns
Because of the amount of fire and smoke that this lava has caused, many travelers are worried about their health, especially when it comes to the quality of the air that they are breathing. This is a concern for locals too and the air quality is being closely monitored. Each island is having the air quality monitored so no matter which part of Hawaii a tourist is staying at they can rest assured that they won’t have to deal with health issues concerning the Kilauea volcano.

Less Crowds
Despite the fact that it is perfectly safe to go to almost every part of Hawaii, many tourists are still opting to stay away. For those that still want to visit Hawaii, they may be able to find cheaper fares and experience lesser crowds. Since Hawaii benefits greatly from tourism, locals are going above and beyond to make tourists feel welcome. So not only is it safe to visit Hawaii it’s also a great time in general to visit it.
