What better way to enjoy a destination than to hit the open water on a boat, feel the wind whipping through your hair and watching the scenery go by. All throughout the world there are numerous places to sail either by yourself or with a captain to take you out. These are some of the best places in the world to go sailing.

The Grenadines

Known as the “Spice Islands”, the Grenadines is one of the best places in the world to surf. It consists of 32 islands that span 60 miles. The sailing conditions here tend to be good year round and there aren’t usually a lot of crowds. While here be sure to head over to Bequia as it’s a popular place to sail and you really can’t beat the views.

The Greek Islands

Whether you have 1 day or have time to island hop, the Greek Islands are on just about every list of the best places to sail.  You’ll find crystal blue waters, magical sunsets & relaxed islands.

Catalina Island

It’s probably not surprising that you can find some of the best sailing in the world right in California. Catalina Island is a paradise for boaters. It’s located only around 22 miles from Los Angeles and allows sailors to escape the busyness of the city. The waters here are clear so you can easily see the marine life. Many people choose to dock in the waters so that they can dive down below to see some of the ship or plane wrecks that are deep beneath the waters.

Croatia

This country is becoming a popular tourist attraction, no part due to it’s sailing. The weather here is usually good so it’s almost never a bad time to go sailing. With over 1,100 miles of coastline, there are nearly endless places to explore. You can see many boaters just off of Hvar as it’s a great island to dock at and explore.

French Polynesia
Made up of 5 groups of islands, including Tahiti, many people come sailing here so that they can see the unique landscape. The islands are filled with volcanic peaks, waterfalls and an abundance of vegetation. There is also a lot of marine life location throughout the waters and there are numerous places that are popular among sailors including Raiatea, Bora-Bora and Moorea.

Menorca

Located in Spain, Menorca is a haven for sailors. It’s smaller than a lot of other places, but it’s still filled with plenty of spectacular things to see. There are numerous coves, beaches and hidden landscapes that you can only see from the waters. Fornells Bay is an extremely popular place to sail as their are plenty of boat rentals available for tourists.
